Chicago Med’s Torrey DeVitto Hints at Natalie and Will’s Reunion and Conclusion

Torrey DeVitto has long been a supporter of the relationship between Chicago Med’s Dr. Natalie Manning and Dr. Will Halstead — but will her return to NBC’s show finally grant the couple their fairy tale ending?

“I never felt that Natalie and Will received the resolution they deserved, nor what the fans wanted to see for them,” DeVitto, 41, admitted exclusively to Us Weekly on Friday, October 10.

The actress hinted that her Chicago Med appearance in the episode airing on Wednesday, October 15, could be the solution to that dilemma.

“I believe viewers will be satisfied this time,” DeVitto teased, remaining coy about whether Natalie and Will (Nick Gehlfuss) will finally achieve their “happy ending” years after both actors exited the series.

DeVitto and Gehlfuss, 40, first took on the roles of doctors Natalie and Will, respectively, during the first season of Chicago Med.

The on-screen couple became engaged before season 4, but later canceled their engagement after a wedding mishap. DeVitto departed the series in 2021 after seven seasons, while Gehlfuss left Med during the season 8 finale, which aired in 2023.

In the episode, fans witnessed Will traveling to Seattle to reconnect with Natalie and her son, Owen (Frankie DeMaio), from her previous marriage.

This touching moment suggested that Will and Natalie were rekindling their relationship, which was confirmed in the Wednesday, October 8, episode after Will returned to Gaffney Chicago Medical Center following a boys’ trip to Chicago with Owen. (Will also disclosed that Natalie is expecting their first child.)

As the episode concluded, Owen was shot by a woman attempting to steal drugs being transported by a teenage mule who was hospitalized. When the credits rolled, Natalie received a phone call in Seattle, indicating she would also be heading back to Chicago to support her son.

DeVitto wouldn’t disclose how the episode unfolds, but she assured that fans of Natalie and Will’s “crazy, tumultuous” love story will find satisfaction.
