Chiefs Celebrate Patrick Mahomes’ Newborn Before NFL Playoff Matchup

The Kansas City Chiefs paid a heartfelt tribute to the Mahomes family and their newest member just before the start of the team’s first NFL playoff game this season.

“QB1’s looking Golden,” the Chiefs posted on X on Saturday, January 18. The post included a video of starting quarterback Patrick Mahomes arriving at Arrowhead Stadium as the team readies to face the Houston Texans in the divisional round of the playoffs.

Patrick’s wife, Brittany Mahomes, reacted to the touching mention by re-sharing the original post in her Instagram Story, captioning it with “The caption” along with an emoji featuring big eyes and another crying with laughter.

Earlier in the week, on Monday, January 13, Patrick and Brittany celebrated the arrival of their third child, revealing her unique name.

“•Golden Raye Mahomes• 1/12/25🎀✨” the couple captioned their joint Instagram post, which showcased a black-and-white photo of them holding their newborn daughter’s tiny feet. The couple, married in March 2022, are already parents to daughter Sterling and son Bronze, born in February 2021 and November 2022, respectively.

Numerous celebrities quickly went to the comments section to congratulate the couple, including Travis Kelce’s girlfriend, Taylor Swift, who expressed her support by “liking” the post.

“Uncle Jack loves her so much already,” Patrick’s brother, Jack Mahomes, declared in his Instagram story, reposting the couple’s announcement with a soundtrack of Swift’s song, “Daylight.”

“Today was amazing getting to meet you sweet Golden! I can’t wait for all the memories to come! You have the BEST PARENTS EVER,” he added in his post. “And the best uncle.”

Kelce and his older brother, retired Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce, also expressed their congratulations to the couple through their “Great Heights” podcast’s Instagram account.

The proud mother recently shared a glimpse of Golden’s nursery through an Instagram post on Thursday, January 16.

“When I learned I was having a baby girl, my thoughts immediately went to the color pink for the nursery,” she explained. “I envisioned a warm and pink theme for Golden’s nursery, and of course, incorporating gold to match her name inspired most of the design choices for her room.”

While the Chiefs took a moment to acknowledge Golden’s arrival ahead of their playoff game, new mom Brittany was absent (understandably, given her recent childbirth). Her close friend, Swift, attended the game, donning a stylish black minidress paired with a pearl Chanel belt and a matching checked jacket. She finalized her ensemble with a coordinating Chanel handbag and her iconic red lipstick.

This past week, Kelce confirmed Swift’s attendance at the game. “You know it, baby,” he remarked during the January 13 episode of ESPN’s The Pat McAfee Show. “It’s playoff football, man.”

Kelce also alluded to one of Swift’s most famous lyrics while expressing his anticipation for the game. “I’m really fired up,” he shared. “I’m feeling 22 again, baby. Let’s go.”
