Christina Haack’s Most Cutting Remarks About Josh Hall From The Flip Off

Christina Haack felt liberated to express her thoughts about estranged husband Josh Hall following his departure from The Flip Off.

Before launching her HGTV career, Christina first made a name for herself on Flip or Flop alongside her ex-husband Tarek El Moussa. The pair collaborated on the show during their marriage, which spanned from 2009 to 2018, and continued to do so after their divorce was finalized.

Christina later entered a relationship with Ant Anstead, resulting in their joint effort on Christina on the Coast before their romance ended. Following her split from Ant, Christina began dating Josh, who she filed for divorce from in July 2024. She is now in a relationship with Christopher LaRocca. Professionally, Christina has remained involved with The Flip Off even after Josh left the show.

“Filming is much easier when there’s no pressure to go home with the person. Generally, filming with a spouse isn’t wise,” Christina stated in an exclusive interview with Us Weekly in January 2025, reflecting on her experiences working with Tarek and his wife, Heather El Moussa. “Josh was incredibly challenging to work with; he just didn’t understand.”

She elaborated, “He would often get upset with me, asking, ‘Why did you do this?’ or ‘Why did you do that?’ And I would respond, ‘I’m creating a TV show.’ Ultimately, it was for the best that he left after the first episode because the show would have been subpar.”

Christina confirmed to Us that terminating the show had never been considered.

“This is not Josh’s show. No one will miss his absence,” she asserted. “Josh isn’t a TV host, a house flipper, or a designer. He was merely my husband in it. Tarek and I built everything together and I still have respect for him, whereas I hold no respect for Josh.”

Josh commented on his exit through an Instagram Story in January 2025, stating, “TFW (that feeling when) you can’t draw enough ratings with celebrity 🏠designers, so you create drama with me, a nobody. @hgtv, you’ve changed.”

Christina responded to his comments with her own Instagram Story remarking, “Manufactured?! Pretty sure no one at HGTV instructed you to treat me poorly. … That was all genuine.”

Acknowledging the Truth

“When I first met Josh, I was still known as Christina El Moussa everywhere,” Christina, who was married to Tarek from 2009 to 2018, reflected in January 2025. “Josh was not pleased with that and was all about me taking on the Hall name.”

Before his departure from the show, the tension in Christina and Josh’s relationship was evident on screen. The couple had split prior to the show’s premiere concluding.

During the January 2025 premiere, Christina candidly discussed her off-screen struggles, telling Tarek, “Everything since 2016 has been incredibly challenging and distressing. There are plenty of good moments, but the negatives have weighed heavily on me. I try to conceal the impact, but then I engage in reckless behaviors to cope, rushing into things that I know aren’t right.”

Christina revealed to Tarek that she and Josh had officially parted ways after a major “blow-up.”

“The kids literally urged me to leave,” she mentioned regarding her and Tarek’s two children, daughter Taylor and son Brayden. “They said he’s not kind to me. Why would I stay?”

On Her Own

Christina expressed her excitement over not having a partner on The Flip Off, declaring during a February 2025 episode, “I never claimed to have a partner from the outset. Well, I had one. But he doesn’t count.”

Trying to Move On

“While construction is underway on my flip, I have to confront some real-life challenges. I own a home in Tennessee where Josh and I spent a lot of time together over the last few years,” she explained in a February 2025 episode. “Given everything that’s transpired and the fact that I no longer spend time there, I realized it was time to retrieve all my belongings from the house.”

Christina was taken aback by the unexpected developments in her divorce proceedings, noting, “It’s unbelievable. He seems to want to retire off my back. If I had known the consequences of all this, I would have secured a prenup or never married him at all.”

While filming her show, Christina has been focusing on her future.

“He believes all of this is rightfully his, even though I acquired it before our marriage. He’s merely trying to take it all from me,” she asserted. “He keeps making these offers, and it confuses me why someone would do this to me, especially when he’s taken so much advantage of me without having to work for years. The last offer he made seemed ridiculous—this next one is even worse.”
