Christine and Janelle Brown Discuss Their Relationships with Meri and Robyn Brown
Two stars from TLC’s Sister Wives are opening up about their relationships with their former sister wives.
In the most recent season of Sister Wives, viewers witnessed the continued disintegration of the Brown family, as Christine Brown, Janelle Brown, and Meri Brown distanced themselves from their shared life with husband Kody Brown and his wife, Robyn Brown.
Now, these women are no longer part of a polygamous union and have moved on to lead their own individual lives. Robyn is the only sister wife still married to Kody.
In a recent episode of “Rogue Energy,” a podcast by iHeart, Christine and Janelle, who have remained friends and view each other as “family” despite their break from Kody, discussed their dynamics with Meri and Robyn.
“I haven’t spoken to Meri or Robyn in years, and it’s amusing,” Christine stated. “I think we should just leave it that way. I don’t feel the need to forge a relationship with them.”
After marrying her husband, David Woolley, in October 2023, Christine noted that Janelle was present at the wedding, but Meri and Robyn were not.
“One of the benefits of marrying later in life is you can invite only those you genuinely want to be there,” Christine added.
“There’s no need for obligatory invites for relatives you’d rather not include, like uncle Bob or uncle Jed, who tend to be bothersome. We had the freedom to invite only our closest friends to our wedding,” she elaborated on the podcast. “That included you, Janelle. I’m not friends with Kody, Meri, or Robyn, so I only invited who I truly wanted.”
Janelle remarked that she has had “some interactions with Meri” and Kody due to shared property interests.
“I think Meri has found happiness,” Janelle noted. “She’s been living her own life, you know? We’ve been working together amicably to resolve our property arrangements, which has been pleasant.”
“I haven’t interacted with Robyn,” Janelle continued. “I haven’t made any effort to connect with her and don’t encounter her in any aspect of my life.”
Janelle expressed her enthusiasm for being in control of her life as she moves forward, while Christine shared that she has finally found the supportive partner she has long desired in her new husband.
However, as the Brown families go their separate paths, Kody’s connections with the children he shares with Janelle, Meri, and Christine have been strained.
In a recent episode of Sister Wives, Kody stated he will not “cut off” Robyn in order to maintain relationships with his other children.
“My children will always be my children and my door will always be open for them,” he confessed, but added that his children must make the first move to rekindle their relationship. “They need to come through that door.”
“I’m ready to extend my hand for that, but I’ll be holding on to the hand next to me, and I won’t let go of it,” he stated, referring to Robyn. “I will not cut off Robyn to foster a relationship with my children.”
Christine and Janelle reassured that their kids realize they are “blessed with two moms” and consider their families to be a “success” due to the close-knit upbringing they received while in a plural marriage.
