Christine Quinn Opens Up About Her Divorce from Christian Richard

Selling Sunset star Christine Quinn is ready to open up about the circumstances surrounding her tumultuous divorce from Christian Richard.

“I haven’t discussed this with anyone,” she shared with People in an interview published on Tuesday, March 18. “Some knew things were amiss, but no one truly understood the extent of how dire the situation was.”

At 36, Quinn reflected on having “no choice but to leave” Los Angeles and start anew in Texas, stating, “I didn’t have a choice. I was granted an emergency protective order to prevent my ex from coming to the house. He violated that order and kept returning.”

While reminiscing about the end of her marriage, Quinn remarked that there are many aspects of the situation that the public “really don’t know.”

“I was entirely hacked out of my life. I lost everything overnight — I genuinely had nothing. And it was dehumanizing,” she expressed. “I was utterly without resources.”

Richard, 46, did not respond to Quinn’s remarks to the publication. Their marriage problems first made headlines when he was arrested and booked in March 2024 for assault with a deadly weapon. Following this incident, a temporary restraining order was issued. Richard faced arrest a second time for violating this order by returning to their home.

Following the alleged domestic violence incident, both Quinn and Richard sought restraining orders against each other. While Quinn’s request was granted, Richard’s was denied a month later.

Richard filed for divorce from Quinn after two years of marriage, citing “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for their separation. He also requested full legal and physical custody of their 3-year-old son, Christian, while permitting Quinn visitation rights.

Court documents obtained by Us in April 2024 revealed that Quinn was pursuing sole legal and physical custody, citing concerns that Richard’s “actions and behavior have endangered our son’s health and wellbeing.” She has since relocated to Texas with her son, which they both find beneficial.

“Everyone witnessed the incident, but this had been ongoing for a while,” she elaborated on Tuesday. “It was a problem simmering beneath the surface for a long time. The situation was incredibly unhealthy, and I like to believe that I’m quite resilient — and I am.”

Quinn made the choice to sever ties with Richard after recognizing the negative impact on their son’s well-being, stating, “There were certain things I could put up with, but when it began to affect my son, that was unacceptable. I thought, ‘Okay, I can manage this, I’m an adult.’ But dragging him into the chaos was something I couldn’t tolerate.”

During this rare interview, Quinn cited an example of Richard’s alleged behavior.

“There were instances when my husband literally laid beneath my car when I had to go to work,” she claimed. “I would wait for an hour until I finally missed a meeting and gave up, or he would shut the gates so I couldn’t leave. It was difficult.”

Quinn shared, “It was extremely challenging for me, considering my parents are high school sweethearts. I made a vow, and I was determined not to break it. It took every ounce of strength to recognize that walking away was the right decision. Initially, it was about my safety, but it ultimately became about my son’s safety. So, I had to leave.”

While Richard has not responded to Quinn’s recent allegations, his attorney Alexandra Kazarian previously issued a statement.

“The depths of Ms. Quinn’s delusion are once again on display. Her wild and unsubstantiated claims continue unabated, and her lack of credibility is best understood when read alongside the unprecedented public statement from the LAPD which indicated that her accusations of hotel room bugging and alleged surveillance by Christian were baseless,” read a statement from 2024 following Quinn’s restraining order application. “The reality is that Ms. Quinn enjoyed complete financial and personal independence throughout the marriage, spending upwards of $30,000 a month of his money, and now faces a divorce without a prenup, coupled with the obligation to repay community assets with the millions she earned during the marriage.”
