Comedian Theo Von’s Flirting Rejected by College GameDay Host Jess Sims
College GameDay host Jess Sims skillfully dismissed Theo Von’s subtle flirting during their live broadcast.
“Oh, I’m leaving already?” the comedian, 45, asked Sims, 37, during the October 4 show on ESPN’s College GameDay when prompted to share his next picks. “Will I get to see you again?”
Sims seemed to gesture Von toward the stage exit while turning down his request.
“See you later,” she remarked playfully. “No, I hope not.”
Von served as the celebrity guest picker during Saturday’s show, where Sims also discussed his fervent support for Vanderbilt University.
“I actually live in former coach Derek Mason’s old house, that’s true,” he remarked about the ex-coach, who left in 2020. “But let’s give him some credit. He went 0 for 16. I’m not joking, but bless him. He left some trophies I need to return — and a plunger.”
Sims chuckled at Von’s comment, quickly redirecting the conversation back to the collegiate games.
Neither Sims, who is also a Peloton instructor, nor Von have commented further on their on-air exchange. Nevertheless, Sims always aims to maintain professionalism during her work.
“I always feel butterflies. I always get nervous,” she shared with Boardroom TV in a March 2024 profile. “People don’t come to me for perfection. They come because they see themselves in me. They notice imperfections and feel a sense of relief. I don’t need to be flawless. They seek improvement and inspiration.”
She further noted, “We grow up being constantly told to, ‘Try harder. Try this. Try that.’ I’ve realized that if you have to try too hard, you’re forcing something. Since turning 30, I believe that from birth to 30, you gather knowledge, and then from 30 onward, you unlearn those lessons.”
Sims has indicated that she’s learned to avoid forcing things in her life.
“Aim to achieve a flow state that feels right for you and those around you, and embrace that,” she explained. “If I had adhered strictly to my goals, I wouldn’t be here at Peloton [or ESPN]. Fixating solely on goals can blind you to the broader journey and deprive you of enjoying the process.”
Von, for his part, candidly discusses his dating life and experiences as a comedian.
“My main issue is commitment,” he stated during a June 2023 episode of the “Podcast Owl” show. “I’m unsure about getting married. The thought of sharing a bed or a house really intimidates me. That sort of thing makes me anxious.”
