Couples Edited Out of Love Is Blind: What Happened to Them?

Courtesy of Netflix (2)

Every year, numerous couples find love “sight unseen” on Love Is Blind — and some stories are so hidden that they never feature on Netflix.

Since its debut in February 2020, the reality TV dating experiment introduced six couples who fell in love behind a wall, engaged, and faced the altar to decide their futures. The show enjoyed immense popularity, leading Netflix to launch seven additional seasons in just five years (with seasons 9 and 10 already renewed).

Before the season 8 finale, Us found a success rate of around 25%, determined by the couples fully followed by the cameras. Interestingly, many couples who get engaged are often left on the cutting room floor.

“Every season, several stories remain untold, regardless of the couples being engaged or not. Some we briefly follow but don’t feature on the show,” creator Chris Coelen explained to Variety in 2023. “It’s quite a judgment call.”

Furthermore, during another interview with People, Coelen elaborated: “Our primary focus is to tell the most genuine stories possible. That’s the main criterion for which stories we pursue and share on-screen.”

Since the launch of Love Is Blind in 2020, viewers have often speculated about the effectiveness of blind speed-dating. Spanning eight seasons and several international adaptations, the show features singles dating within pods for 10 days. The twist? They […]

Swipe down for an overview of couples left behind each season:

Season 1

Rory Newbrough and Danielle Drouin

Rory shared with People in 2020 that eight couples got engaged, a surprising outcome for season 1. “We were thanked and told that they couldn’t accommodate everyone,” he reflected.

After the pods, the pair went on a trip to Miami but split shortly afterward. Danielle dated fellow season 1 contestant Matt Thomas before marrying Kerrington Sky in 2022. She is expecting their first child in March 2025.

Westley Baer and Lexie Skipper

Westley expressed disappointment about not being able to join Lexie on the cast trip. “We were both looking forward to it. Later, we were told, ‘We can’t follow your journey,’ which was disheartening,” he recalled. Despite dating post-pods, they ended their relationship after about three months.

As of 2022, Lexie confirmed their friendship remains intact. “We chat daily and relate well. I wish more of our journey had been aired,” she noted. “We often pondered on what could have been; would we be married if we went to Mexico?”

Season 2

Caitlin McKee and Joey Miller

Caitlin and Joey got engaged and continued their relationship for several months after planning their own trips when Netflix chose not to film their journey. “[We] enjoyed a wonderful summer and fall, traveling, meeting families, and building a heartfelt connection without cameras and crew. Although we have since separated, we remain friends, and he’ll always hold a significant place in my heart,” Caitlin shared on Instagram in February 2022.

Joey started dating a woman named Jessie Kopp in 2023.

Paradise seems to have a magical quality that leads to love. Across ten seasons of Bachelor in Paradise, it has emerged as the most successful franchise spinoff.

Jason Beaumont and Kara Williams

The duo remained together for several months post-show but parted ways before the 2022 premiere.

“Kara is one of the most charismatic, loving, and supportive individuals I’ve ever encountered; she’s remarkably strong,” Jason expressed on Instagram. “Seeing her on the red carpet was the most exhilarating moment of my life, and I still feel goosebumps when I recall just how stunning she looked.”

Kara announced her engagement to Kyle Hundelt in December 2024, with wedding plans set for 2026.

Season 3

Production company Kinetic confirmed in October 2022 that all engaged couples shown in season 3 were featured.

Season 4

Jimmy Forde and Wendi Kong

The couple from Seattle ended their engagement three months after it occurred in the pods. “Believe it or not, I wasn’t just on @loveisblindnetflix to play pool in the backdrop … Though not shown, Wendi and I did get engaged on the show. I tried my best, but the relationship didn’t work out, and that’s perfectly fine!” Jimmy shared on Instagram in April 2023. “I wish Wendi all the best in future relationships. Perhaps one day that story will be revealed, but I’m fine with however it turns out. Overall, it was an impactful experience, and I made some great friends.”

Wendi later reconnected with contestant Paul Peden after he declined Micah Lussier‘s proposal. “Paul and I shared an incredible psychological connection in the pods, to the extent that it felt a bit narcissistic,” Wendi shared on the “Out of the Pods” podcast in June 2023. They reestablished contact post-wedding but ultimately didn’t work out.

JP Schultz and Ava Van Jenson

After their pod engagement, JP ended things with Ava through a text.

“I encountered him at the airport, and he seemed like a completely different person,” Ava told Netflix’s Tudum in 2023. As they boarded, she received a text from him ending the engagement. JP explained he felt it was essential to reset expectations regarding their relationship. Ultimately, they couldn’t sync their goals.

JP married a woman named Jennifer in August 2024.

According to Coelen’s explanation in 2023, there were actually eight engagements during the season (the series focused on five), but the identities of the final couple remain undisclosed. “In season 1, we had eight engagements and followed six. In season 2, we had eight engagements and followed six. In season 3, there were five engagements, and we followed all. In season 4, we had eight engagements and followed five,” he noted to People in 2023.

Season 5

Paige Tillman and Josh Simmons

Paige expressed her displeasure about their lack of screen time in season 5. “I thought, ‘We’re definitely heading to Mexico.’ We were so cute together, and everyone knew our love. It felt very peculiar that we weren’t featured at all,” she remarked to Today in 2023. As they returned to Houston together, they discussed plans for a wedding in 2024. “It was as if we were navigating the show by ourselves,” she added.

However, five months later, they split. “We had differing views on our future ambitions, a crucial topic we should have discussed. It’s a different ball game when we’re face-to-face,” Paige mentioned, revealing her desire to relocate to Los Angeles for her stylist career. While Josh considered joining her, Paige felt it was unfair to impose that choice on him. “I preferred we address that before a marriage leads to resentment. The end was amicable; we acknowledged our differing paths,” she shared.

Paige moved to L.A., while Josh started a family with a woman named Samantha Cheek.

Renee Poche and Carter Wall

In a twist, Renee revealed to PopSugar that they had been filmed — unlike other de-emphasized couples — and discovered they wouldn’t be prominently featured before the premiere, where they parted at the altar.

“We were really excited, and everything went smoothly in Mexico. However, upon returning to Houston, I began noticing red flags I initially overlooked, and I ultimately said ‘no’ at the altar,” she said. “A couple months before the show aired, I received a call in August letting me know our story wouldn’t receive significant attention. They explained, ‘We’re not focusing on the negative.’ The conversation was vague, leaving me confused. My primary query was, ‘Is the wedding not being shown?’ They simply responded, ‘No wedding,’ and further suggested we’d simply be portrayed as friends from the pods.”

Season 6

Brittany Wisniewski and Leo Braudy

After fans witnessed Brittany and Leo’s incredibly awkward post-pods engagement reveal, Netflix cut to a black screen stating: “Brittany and Leo were not among the six couples chosen by producers to continue their journey in Mexico. They embarked on their own trip and ended their engagement a few weeks later.”

Ultimately, they determined they weren’t a suitable match. “We enjoyed the beach and hotel together, but realized there’s a world of difference between getting engaged on a show and actually getting married,” Leo stated. “We had lengthy discussions and concluded we were better off as friends.”

Brittany began a relationship with singer Mod Sun in 2024.

Season 7

Coelen reiterated that the show budgets for five couples and can stretch to six, but two additional couples were excluded from season 7.

“When deciding which couples to follow, we evaluate which seem authentic,” he explained to Variety in October 2024. “When I speak of authenticity, I mean couples genuinely inclined to reach the altar. We felt that the six couples we followed appeared genuinely committed to getting married.”

Bohdan Olinares and Nina Zafar

Vulture reported that Nina was hesitant to engage in the pods and decided to leave empty-handed. She later revealed that the pair didn’t progress far in real life.

“Though I didn’t find love (or airtime lol) on Love is Blind,” she wrote on social media. “I formed 13 new friendships, which I find incredible. Reality TV might have its critics, but it takes immense courage to put yourself out there to public scrutiny. I’m proud of my castmates!”

Additionally, Vulture revealed that Nina’s sister, Tara, also participated and had a suitor she was reluctant to marry.

“Nina’s sister Tara departed on the same day, having not gotten engaged either. In total, three couples exited season seven without proceeding with production: Nina, Tara, and their respective partners, along with Brittany and Leo, who proposed yet weren’t invited to the romantic getaway,” the outlet mentioned in 2024.

Season 8

Coelen confirmed that two couples were omitted from the currently airing LiB season.

Kylie Schuelke and Brian Sumption

The couple made their relationship public following the premiere, sharing multiple PDA-filled moments on Instagram.

“From pods to reality — what a journey! Grateful for every moment, every lesson, and every person I encountered along the way. Love Is Blind — truly a wild and unforgettable ride,” they posted together on social media.

Brian and Kylie later confirmed to Netflix in February 2025 that they indeed got engaged in the season 8 pods.

Brittany Dodson and Mo Ndiaye

Despite viewers watching Brittany’s relationship with Devin Buckley unfold (and ultimately collapse), reports suggest Brittany was also linked with Mo. Cosmopolitan highlighted a TikToker named “StorytimeWithRikkii”, who alleged Mo made a “problematic” remark during the show, which he disputed in a screenshot.

“If it was deemed problematic by production, why were all his scenes cut? News to me,” he responded. “As for who ended the relationship… I’ll keep that to myself. Everyone has their narrative, but I know mine 🤷🏿‍♂️. I appreciate everyone concerned about my experience, though.”

Season 10

Elissa Finley and Miguel Lopez

Elissa disclosed to Tudum in February 2026 that she had a brief engagement with Miguel after their connection during the Ohio-set season of Love Is Blind.

“We got engaged, and the reveal was splendid,” she remarked. “When we saw each other, the chemistry was as strong as I anticipated.”

Although their love story wasn’t highlighted in the series, they had intended to continue their relationship in Ohio. Instead, Miguel relocated to Florida.

“He took that experience from me,” Elissa claimed to Tudum. “It was incredibly challenging afterward. We haven’t spoken since that day; that was it.”
