Deputy Accused of Tracking Woman He Encountered on ‘Bad Monkey’ Set

A deputy in Florida was taken into custody after officials stated he accessed law enforcement databases to track down a woman he met while working security on the set of “Bad Monkey,” a TV series featuring actor Vince Vaughn.

Lamar Eliseo Roman, the now-former deputy of Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, was dismissed from his position and arrested on Tuesday, March 10, as announced via a Facebook post from the sheriff’s office.

According to the sheriff’s office, Roman, 28, has been charged with the misuse of law enforcement computers, computer networks, and electronic devices.

The agency reported that he “used law enforcement databases to obtain personal information that exceeded the legal boundaries of his role as a Deputy.”

No attorney was listed for Roman in the court documents reviewed by Us Weekly on Friday, March 13.

While serving as security on the set of “Bad Monkey” in the Florida Keys, Roman “began whistling” at a woman who appeared as an extra on February 3, according to a warrant report from the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office obtained by WPLG.

The report indicates that Roman spoke with the woman and began “flirting and joking” with her, though she reportedly informed him she had a boyfriend.

Additionally, the report states that Roman “said something to the effect of, ‘I need your name and number just in case I pull you over someday,’” as noted by the TV station.

Roman went on to search for the woman in state databases, including the Florida Driver and Vehicle Information Database and the Florida Crime Information Center/National Crime Information Center, allegedly to track her license plate for when it was flagged by readers, according to court filings reported by the TV station.

He repeatedly accessed these databases multiple times in a single day to gather information on the woman, according to his arrest report viewed by the Miami Herald.

On February 19, it is alleged that Roman drove into oncoming traffic while following the woman’s vehicle on U.S. 1 before pulling her over, as indicated in the report by the newspaper.

During the traffic stop, the woman reported that Roman approached her window and stated, “I told you I’d find you and pull you over,” adding, “I was hoping your boyfriend was in the car so I could pull him out and give him a hard time,” according to the report obtained by the Miami Herald.

Roman’s arraignment is scheduled for March 26, as indicated in court records.

In a statement regarding his arrest, Monroe County Sheriff Rick Ramsay emphasized, “I am committed to keeping this community informed of significant events that occur in this agency — both good and bad.”
