Discover Matt Damon’s Family: Get to Know His Four Daughters with Wife Luciana Barroso

Matt Damon is a dedicated father to his four daughters with wife Luciana Barroso.

“I used to firmly believe in the nature-nurture debate, but now I recognize that nature plays a significant role,” Damon shared on the “New Heights” podcast in January 2026. “Children arrive with their unique spirit and soul, and they will express it in their own way.”

He added, “While nurturing is crucial and you assist in that process, kids are fundamentally who they are from the start. Even in their infancy, you can see reflections of their younger selves as they grow.”

Damon married Barroso in 2005, who was already the mother of daughter Alexia from a prior relationship. Together, they welcomed three daughters: Isabella, Gia, and Stella.

Luciana Barroso

The Oscar-winning actor met his wife, Luciana Barroso, in 2003 during the filming of Stuck on You.

“I was bartending in South Beach, and he was filming nearby; the crew ended up visiting the bar one Saturday evening,” Barroso reminisced in a 2018 interview with Vogue. “Matt claims he saw me across the room, and there was a spotlight on me. And I’m like, ‘Yeah, it was a nightclub—there were lights everywhere!’”

She continued, “He said, ‘Oh, I saw you and really wanted to chat.’ I put him to work, telling him that if he was going to be around, he couldn’t just stand there! He had bartended for a film years prior, so he started making drinks, and I earned a lot in tips that night since everyone wanted to see him.”

Alexia Barroso

Damon met Barroso’s eldest daughter, Alexia, when she was just a toddler.

“I dove right in. Alexia was already 4 when we met. I was an extra dad,” the Rip star told Parade in 2011. “It may sound silly, but it’s like at the end of How the Grinch Stole Christmas, when his heart grows five sizes—everything just feels so full.”

Alexia even made a brief appearance in Damon’s 2011 film We Bought a Zoo.

Isabella Damon

Isabella Damon was born in June 2011. She graduated high school in 2024 and is now attending New York University.

“It’s a surreal moment in life; the older you get, it feels like just yesterday I was holding her,” Damon shared with E! News in September 2024 as he prepared for Isabella to leave home. “She’s one of the funniest people I know. She’s truly amazing.”

Gia Damon

Gia Damon joined the family in August 2008.

“My daughter injured her collarbone and this morning, as she prepared for school, she asked me to brush her hair,” Matt reflected on the “New Heights” podcast in January 2026. “I hadn’t brushed her hair in… eight or nine years.”

Stella Damon

The Damon family was completed with the arrival of Stella Damon in October 2010.
