Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Alex Vesia and his wife, Kayla Vesia, have openly shared their anguish over the heartbreaking loss of their newborn daughter, Sterling Sol.
Married since January 2024, Alex and Kayla announced their pregnancy the following year. They confirmed the tragic news of their daughter’s passing through a heartfelt Instagram post on November 7, 2025.
“Sterling Sol Vesia. Our little angel, we love you forever & you’re always with us. Our beautiful daughter went to heaven on Sunday, October 26,” the Instagram message stated. “Words can’t express the pain we’re feeling, but we keep her in our hearts and treasure every moment we had with her.”
Alex and Kayla expressed gratitude towards the Dodgers and fans for their support, stating, “Our baseball family stood by us, and we couldn’t get through this without them. Thank you Dodger Nation, Blue Jays organization, and all baseball fans for your love and compassion. We’ve seen ALL your messages, comments, and posts. They’ve provided us with immense comfort.”
Alex took a leave of absence from the Dodgers in October 2025, missing the entire championship series, which the Dodgers eventually won against the Toronto Blue Jays.

Kayla expressed uncertainty about her future social media presence, saying, “I want to share my journey. I don’t know how much I’ll share or the specifics, but I aim to help anyone facing similar challenges feel less alone.”

On January 6, 2026, Kayla Vesia posted on TikTok about her first postpartum workout, describing it as emotionally challenging.
“Everything leads back to Sterling. I’m excited to work out after having her,” she said, highlighting her Oura ring as a source of motivation. “[It’s] a ring that reminds me of Sterling, so whenever I struggle in class, I can glance down and feel empowered.”

Alex Vesia made a promise to make Sterling proud leading up to the Dodgers’ Opening Day in March 2026.
