Dodgers’ Alex Vesia Honors Late Baby with Custom Baseball Glove Design

Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Alex Vesia plans to honor his late daughter throughout the upcoming 2026 baseball season.

“It’s glove day, and I get to customize six gloves with Marucci,” Alex, 29, stated in a TikTok video shared by his wife, Kayla Vesia, on Friday, January 16. Watch here.

Kayla, also 29, revealed that Alex designs a new baseball glove ahead of each MLB season.

“It’s that time again for Alex’s glove designs, complete with colors and all,” Kayla explained in her video. “Fun fact about gloves: they can’t be white and must be two-toned … [and] pitchers typically have larger gloves to avoid tipping their pitches.”

Alex Vesia’s wife, Kayla, has been his strongest supporter throughout his baseball journey. The couple made their relationship public in April 2019 while Alex was still with the Clinton LumberKings collegiate team, and she remained by his side as he turned professional, first joining the Miami Marlins.

In addition to choosing glove colors, Alex incorporates meaningful touches that symbolize Kayla and their family.

“Since we began dating, he has always put a ‘K’ on his ring finger,” Kayla shared. “He consistently adds ‘FUFB’ to his glove and will begin including Sterling’s name. He often draws inspiration from existing glove designs, mixing ideas until we find something we like.”

Alex and Kayla announced in November 2025 that their daughter, Sterling Sol, had “gone to heaven.”

“Words can’t capture the pain we’re experiencing, but we carry her in our hearts and cherish every moment we had with her,” the couple shared in a social media statement. “We thank the Dodgers for their understanding and support during this difficult time. Our baseball family has been incredible, and we couldn’t manage without them.”

Alex missed the entirety of the 2025 World Series while grieving Sterling’s passing, while the Dodgers secured the championship over the Toronto Blue Jays.

Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Alex Vesia and wife Kayla received support from teammates in the aftermath of their newborn daughter’s passing. “Having all the guys show up in matching pajamas,” Kayla wrote in a TikTok video on Saturday, January 4, showcasing Alex’s surprised reaction on Christmas morning.

Kayla also hopes that her return to social media will aid her in coping with the grief of losing her child.

“I’m not sure what this content will look like moving forward, but I want to document my journey,” Kayla shared. “I may not disclose every detail, but I hope to convey that support and connection to others who may be facing similar hardships. I don’t want to come online and cry; I believe having this outlet can be beneficial for discussing and sharing, different from our conversations with each other or with our therapist.”
