Emily in Paris Hints at Season 6 Move to Greece for Gabriel’s Romance

If Emily in Paris is granted a season 6 renewal, the beloved Netflix series may be venturing to yet another new locale — but where will Emily go next?

The fifth season, which was released on Thursday, December 18, followed Emily (Lily Collins) and her friends from Rome back to Paris, concluding with a stop in Venice. However, in the closing scene, viewers caught up with Gabriel (Lucas Bravo), who was preparing to dock a boat in Greece.

Gabriel expressed his feelings for Emily in a letter before inviting her to visit. This seems to hint that Emily in Paris might expand to new destinations in a potential new season.

“Assuming we’re picked up, I want to return to Paris, but I also want to explore other places,” director and executive producer Andrew Fleming told Us Weekly exclusively. “The end of season 5 teases where we might end up — Greece is a possibility.”

Samuel Arnold, who plays Julian, shared his enthusiasm about the potential change of scenery, stating to Us, “I won’t lie. If they want to film in Greece, I say, ‘Let’s go.’ I’ve never been to Greece.”

Emily in Paris follows Emily Cooper as she relocates from the U.S. to France for a new job, inadvertently landing herself in a love triangle with Gabriel and Alfie (Lucien Laviscount).

Emily later moved on with Marcello (Eugenio Franceschini), but by the conclusion of season 4, Gabriel decided he wanted to fight for her. Meanwhile, Emily had started to settle into life in Rome with Marcello.

Before the premiere of season 5, creator Darren Star addressed concerns that Emily in Paris would be retitled Emily in Rome.

Emily in Paris and Doctor Odyssey are prime examples of TV shows with iconic love triangles that might benefit from introducing a throuple. The successful Netflix series, which started in 2020, portrayed Emily (Lily Collins) as she navigated the challenges of moving from the U.S. to France.

“She didn’t change her Instagram handle to Emily in Rome,” he told Deadline in September 2024. “She is working in Rome sometimes since Sylvie’s company has an office there. Emily’s getting that off the ground. I don’t think this means a permanent move — it’s definitely not a permanent one — we’re not leaving Paris.”

Nonetheless, French President Emmanuel Macron informed Variety in October 2024 that he would “fight hard” to keep Emily in Paris from relocating to Italy for season 5.

Star hinted to TVLine in September 2024 that the move to Italy “expands the universe of the show.”

“Just when Emily starts to feel at home in Paris, she is thrust into another country where she will encounter cultural differences,” he explained. “There are also cultural contrasts to explore — which we do — between the French and Italians. It opens up a whole new world, but it doesn’t mean we are abandoning Paris.”

Emily in Paris is currently streaming on Netflix.
