From the final rose to being a mother of five, it’s evident that family holds a special place in Emily Maynard Johnson‘s heart.
Bachelor Nation first met the North Carolina resident when she was a single mother to her daughter Ricki. While she was pregnant, Maynard Johnson got engaged to Ricky Hendrick, who tragically passed away in an airplane crash in October 2004 at the age of 24.
Viewers then followed Maynard Johnson and her daughter as she became engaged to Brad Womack during season 15 of The Bachelor.
“Looking back, I wish I had kept [my experiences on The Bachelor and Bachelorette] completely separate from Ricki,” she shared in a podcast interview in 2017. “At that moment, I thought, ‘This is it,’ and I wouldn’t have introduced her to it had I not believed that. So, I wish I could have taken a step back and perhaps protected her from it a bit more.”
After a brief relationship with Womack, Maynard Johnson was selected as the season 8 Bachelorette. She accepted a proposal from Jef Holm, though their engagement ended less than a year later.
In 2014, Maynard Johnson married Tyler Johnson. The couple welcomed three sons within three years: Jennings Tyler in July 2015, Gibson Kyle in September 2016, and Gatlin Avery in November 2017. Later on, she gave birth to daughter Magnolia Belle in October 2020, and son Jones West in August 2022.
