Emma Stone and Pedro Pascal’s Adorable Reaction to a Bee on the Cannes Red Carpet

Emma Stone and Pedro Pascal encountered an unexpected intruder on the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival — a bee.

On May 16, Stone, 36, and Pascal, 50, were at Cannes for the premiere of their latest film, Eddington. While posing for pictures alongside their cast, the bee made its way towards Stone.

In footage shared by Variety, Stone is seen nervously huddling between Pascal and fellow costar Austin Butler as the bee approached her face. As she leaned toward Pascal, the Mandalorian star was also taken aback by the buzzing guest. Both Stone and Pascal sought safety in each other’s company while Butler, 33, attempted to blow the insect away.

Unfazed by their antics, the bee eventually chose to fly off. Once the insect left, Stone collected herself and resumed posing for photos.

Stone looked breathtaking in a custom white Louis Vuitton gown featuring an oversized bib collar, an asymmetrical cutout, and a delicate train. Pascal and Butler also made a striking impression in their red carpet attire, with Pascal in an all-black suit and Butler in a classic tuxedo complete with a bowtie.

Alongside Stone, Pascal, and Butler, the film directed by Ari Aster also stars Joaquin Phoenix, Luke Grimes, Clifton Collins Jr., Micheal Ward, Amelie Hoeferle, Matt Gomez, Hidaka, and Cameron Mann. Butler previously expressed his excitement about collaborating with such a talented ensemble.

“I’m a huge fan of Ari, Joaquin, Emily, and [DP] Darius Khondji, as well as everyone else involved. The entire team was amazing to work with,” Butler shared in a June 2024 interview with The Hollywood Reporter. “I don’t want to spoil the story or my character, but it was an exhilarating adventure. I got to portray a character very different from what I’ve done before.”

Butler also mentioned that it was “wonderful” to reconnect with Aster, with whom he had formed a friendship prior to filming.

“Ari and I have been friends for a while, and it was fantastic to see him on set,” he noted. “He is an extraordinary filmmaker, possessing both confidence and a great sense of humor, along with a wild imagination. I truly enjoyed working with him.”

Eddington is a Western thriller featuring a small-town sheriff (Phoenix) in a tense showdown against a mayor (Pascal) in New Mexico. The film is set to premiere on Friday, July 18.
