Euphoria Creator Sam Levinson Contributes $27,000 to Eric Dane’s GoFundMe Campaign
Sam Levinson and his spouse, Ashley Lent Levinson, are among the contributors supporting Eric Dane’s family with a donation to a GoFundMe established following the actor’s passing.
The Euphoria creator, who is 41 years old, and his wife reportedly donated $27,000 to the campaign, as noted on the GoFundMe page.
This GoFundMe was initiated on Friday, February 20, by friends of Dane, with contributions aimed at supporting the Grey’s Anatomy star’s daughters, Billie, 15, and Georgia, 14. (Dane shared Billie and Georgia with his wife Rebecca Gayheart.)
As of Friday evening, the campaign had surpassed $117k of its $250k goal, with donations continuing to come in after Dane passed away on Thursday following a battle with ALS.
“It is with deep sorrow that we announce the loss of Eric Dane, who fought valiantly against ALS, leaving behind his loving wife, Rebecca, and their two teenage daughters, Billie and Georgia, who meant the world to him,” states the GoFundMe description.
The GoFundMe elaborates on Dane’s advocacy following his ALS diagnosis, which he first disclosed publicly in April 2025.
“After his diagnosis, Eric emerged as a dedicated spokesperson for the ALS community, utilizing his platform to advocate for fellow patients and promote awareness. Even as his health deteriorated, he remained committed to helping those facing the same heartbreaking illness. As his condition progressed more rapidly than anticipated, Eric’s friends came together to launch this GoFundMe to support his daughters and their future needs,” the description continued.
It concluded, “Any donation, regardless of size, will assist in providing stability during this incredibly challenging time and in the future for Eric’s wonderful daughters.”
Us Weekly has reached out to Levinson’s representatives for comment.
Dane portrayed Jacob Elordi’s father, Cal, on Euphoria, a role he maintained since the show’s debut in 2019.
The actor disclosed his diagnosis shortly before filming for the show’s concluding episodes commenced.
“I have been diagnosed with ALS,” Dane stated in an April 2025 announcement. “I am thankful to have my supportive family beside me as we navigate this next chapter. I feel fortunate to be able to continue working and am eager to return to the set of Euphoria next week. I kindly ask for privacy for my family and me during this time.”
Following Dane’s passing on Thursday, February 19, Sam was among the notable figures who paid tribute.
“I’m heartbroken by the loss of our dear friend Eric. It was an honor to work with him. Being his friend was a privilege,” Sam expressed in a statement to Variety on Thursday. “Eric’s family is in our thoughts. May his memory be a blessing.”
Dane’s Euphoria costars Sydney Sweeney and Barbie Ferreira shared their reactions on social media in light of his passing.
Sweeney, 28, posted a video of Dane on her Instagram Stories with the caption, “Forever will love you ❤️.” Meanwhile, Ferreira, 29, reshared a clip of Dane along with a white heart emoji on her Instagram Story.
An HBO representative also paid tribute to Dane in a statement following the announcement of his death:
“We are deeply saddened by the news of Eric Dane’s passing. He was immensely talented, and HBO feels fortunate to have collaborated with him on three seasons of Euphoria. Our thoughts are with his family during this challenging time,” the statement read.
