Dakota Fanning and Elle Fanning Announced as Stars of ‘The Nightingale’

Dakota and Elle Fanning expressed their enthusiasm about collaborating on the film in a statement made in July 2025.

The Nightingale marks the first instance where we act together on screen. While we’ve portrayed the same character at different ages, we’ve never shared dialogue in front of a camera. For years, we searched for a project to tackle together, and this gem finally came our way,” they said. “As sisters, it’s a dream to merge our artistic talents while bringing such a profound sisterly narrative to life, especially with our fearless director, Melanie Laurent, guiding us on this journey. Elle is set to depict the character Isabelle, while Dakota will portray Vianne, according to IMDb. They both previously appeared in 2001’s I Am Sam, but did not share the screen, as they played the younger and older versions of the same character.

Kristin Hannah excitedly announced on Instagram the movie adaptation of her book.

When Will ‘The Nightingale’ Premiere?

Fans of the Fannings will have to be patient to witness Dakota and Elle Fanning in action on screen.

In a March 2026 appearance on “Smartless,” Elle Fanning shared that The Nightingale marks their first on-screen collaboration.

Elle expressed their excitement about finally working together as adults.
