Everything You Need to Know About the Peaky Blinders Film

Following the conclusion of the BBC’s Peaky Blinders in 2022, fans clamored for more content.

In June 2024, Netflix announced the production of a Peaky Blinders film featuring Cillian Murphy reprising his iconic role as Tommy Shelby.

“It feels like Tommy Shelby wasn’t quite done with me …” Murphy expressed in a statement at that time. “I am thrilled to team up once again with Steven Knight and Tom Harper for the film adaptation of Peaky Blinders. This is for the fans.”

Details about the film remain limited, but it will be produced in conjunction with BBC Film. Knight, the originator of the series, is penning the screenplay, while Harper is set to direct, similar to his role in the inaugural season.

“When I first took the helm of Peaky Blinders over a decade ago, we had no inkling of its potential. However, we immediately felt an explosive chemistry in the cast and the writing,” Harper remarked to Netflix in June 2024. “At its core, Peaky Blinders has always been about family — thus, reuniting with Steve and Cillian to bring the film to viewers across the globe is extremely thrilling.”

The original series of Peaky Blinders, which aired from 2013 to 2022, chronicled the adventures of the Peaky Blinders gang in the immediate post-World War I context. The show featured Murphy alongside Paul Anderson, Sophie Rundle, Joe Cole, and the late Helen McCrory.

“[Viewers should] anticipate the unexpected,” he stated in an interview with Radio Times in March 2023. “Indeed, it’s going to be fun.”
