Exciting Spinoff Concepts for Kate and Anthony’s Romance in Bridgerton
Fans don’t have to see Kate and Anthony as the main characters in Bridgerton to enjoy their love story — that’s what spinoffs are for.
The popular Netflix series first introduced audiences to Anthony (Jonathan Bailey) and Kate (Simone Ashley) in its second season, which premiered in 2022. After attempting to meddle in his sister Daphne’s (Phoebe Dynevor) romantic affairs, Anthony experienced his own hurdles as nearly every character urged him to address his feelings for Kate during season 2.
However, the journey to happiness for Kate and Anthony wasn’t easy. Anthony almost wed Kate’s sister, Edwina (Charithra Chandran), before gaining clarity. It took all eight episodes of season 2 for the couple to finally commit to their future together.
Some fans felt short-changed regarding substantial moments featuring Kate and Anthony, prompting executive producers Shonda Rhimes and Betsy Beers to discuss the potential for a spinoff.
“I’m not sure what story could be told. The beauty of this series is that we present a complete love story each season, complete with happy endings. We don’t need to create reasons to keep couples apart; we allow them their joy,” Rhimes expressed to Town and Country in October 2022. “So, spinoffs seem unnecessary without an authentic reason for separation.”
Beers echoed her uncertainty, questioning why some viewers want to simply “watch a couple be happy,” to which Rhimes humorously suggested, “Perhaps we could just have scenes of them sitting together.” In June 2024, Ashley shared her perspective with Premiere, stating, “I genuinely believe Kate and Anthony deserve their own spinoff stemming from Bridgerton. I can’t predict its success, but I would love it. The world is vast, and these characters are rich with depth — there’s so much to explore. I don’t want to spoil anything, but I see several seasons to follow Kate and Anthony.”
Rhimes and Beers might be surprised to learn that Bridgerton fans feel the same way. After noticing the couple was largely absent in season 3 and the trailer for season 4, social media erupted with ideas for how to highlight this beloved duo in their own show.

Wedding Special
A significant disappointment from Kate and Anthony’s season was the absence of wedding content. Viewers witnessed Anthony waiting at the altar — albeit for the wrong person. While Anthony briefly envisioned Kate as his bride during his awkward engagement to her sister, this leaves room for storytelling.
The lack of Kate and Anthony’s wedding could pave the way for a standalone special focusing on their marriage. From the planning stages to the couple expressing their love, Netflix would be remiss to overlook this opportunity.
From Honeymoon to Honeymoon
Season 3 began shortly after Kate and Anthony returned from their initial honeymoon. It didn’t take long for them to crave more quality time together, leading to talks of a second honeymoon. Before leaving, viewers were treated to several steamy moments between the couple — and the story is practically scripted!
Fans could also explore Kate and Anthony’s adventures as they embrace their newlywed bliss with as many honeymoon trips as they can take.
Christmas at Aubrey Hall
Post-wedding, Kate stepped into her role as Viscountess Bridgerton, which came with certain responsibilities. Watching Kate navigate her first year managing the household, especially during the holiday season, could be fascinating for Us — particularly since fans haven’t seen the characters celebrating festivities yet.
A limited series could showcase how the Bridgerton family enjoys Christmas, complete with snow, winter Regency attire, cozy conversations by the fire, and festive carols.
Kate’s Point of View
The Sharma family appeared in the second season but hasn’t been referenced much since. A spinoff depicting Kate and Anthony’s next chapter could provide fans with a closer look at Kate interacting with her family. The third season already hinted at Kate and Anthony revisiting India during her first pregnancy.
