Exploring the Relationship Between Dennis Rodman and His Daughter Trinity Rodman
Dennis Rodman and his youngest daughter, Trinity, have experienced a tumultuous relationship over the years.
Rodman and his former wife, Michelle Moyer, welcomed Trinity into the world in 2002, just a year after their son DJ was born. (Rodman also has an older daughter, Alexis, from his marriage to Annie Bakes.)
Now, more than two decades later, Trinity has stated on the “Call Her Daddy” podcast that the NBA icon was “not a dad” to her.
“Maybe by blood, but that’s about it,” she mentioned in December 2024. “I don’t want to speak negatively, but I want to be realistic. We tried to provide a foundation and be supportive, but in reality, we only asked for help when we truly needed it. He’s never grasped that people might genuinely want to be around him and just wish to see him happy.”
According to Trinity, Rodman’s lifestyle heavily influenced his capacity to be an effective husband and father.
“We tried to make it work living with him, but he was throwing parties all the time, bringing in random women,” she claimed. “My mom was strong enough to handle it, but even now, I believe my dad hasn’t loved anyone since my mom. I think my mom recognized that, while they loved each other, it wasn’t sustainable. She didn’t want us to see how he treated her or the constant party atmosphere.”
Following the split between Moyer and Rodman, the children mostly lived with their mother.

May 2002
Trinity, the second child of Rodman and Moyer, was born in May. According to “Call Her Daddy,” she was referred to as Rodman’s “little princess.”
June 2006
Rodman and Moyer made a rare appearance on the red carpet with DJ and Trinity at the Los Angeles premiere of Pirates of the Caribbean 2: Dead Man’s Chest. They continued to support Rodman at his 2011 jersey retirement ceremony and various public events, despite rumored domestic issues.
2012
After Rodman and Moyer’s divorce was finalized, DJ and Trinity primarily resided with their mother.
“We were seeing him once, two, three, or four times a year,” Trinity recalled during her appearance on “Call Her Daddy” in 2024. “Each time was the same drama — my mom questioning him and pleading, ‘What are you doing? Help your children.’”
At one point, Trinity stated that her family lived out of a car because Rodman ceased financial support.
“That was always the argument, at least in front of us,” she explained. “It was about money and supporting your children.”
Later that year, Rodman was mandated to pay Moyer $500,000 in overdue child support.
March 2018
“He’s kinda cool😀❤️,” Trinity posted in an Instagram tribute, featuring a photo of her and her dad.
November 2021
Rodman attended one of Trinity’s professional soccer matches during her rookie season with the Washington Spirit. Although they were captured hugging before the match, she later became emotional.
“I think I started crying halfway through the first half when I heard [his voice],” she recalled on her “Call Her Daddy” episode. “I was like, ‘Oh my gosh, there’s no way this is happening right now.’ Mind you, I hadn’t seen or talked to him in months. I was thinking, ‘You took this happy moment from me; you messed with my head again.’”
After the match, Rodman reportedly stopped reaching out to Trinity.
April 2022
“I love you, dad,” she posted via Instagram.
December 2024
During her “Call Her Daddy” appearance, Trinity mentioned that Rodman had reestablished contact earlier that year.
“I answer the phone for my own peace of mind. If something were to happen, God forbid, I want to know that I did that,” she explained. “Or if he ever needed to hear my voice before anything occurred. That’s why I answer the phone, not for my own benefit.”
Rodman’s comments prompted him to issue a public apology through a lengthy Instagram post.
“I’m sorry I wasn’t the father you expected me to be, but I’ve always tried, and I will continue to do so. I won’t ever stop trying, even when you’re told as an adult to ignore my calls,” he wrote. “I will keep trying, even when it’s hard, and even if it takes time. I’m always here and remind you how proud I am, whether via voice or voicemail.”
Rodman added, “I always had one wish, and that was for my kids to reach out and visit me. I hope that day comes. I’m here and still trying to connect; you have my number, and you see my calls. I’m still here.”
In response to Rodman’s note, Trinity suggested it was all for “the publicity.”
“I’m wiping my hands of this. I’m done,” she wrote on her Instagram Stories. “Thank you.”
