Ezra Sosa’s Ex-DWTS Partner Anna Delvey Hopes for His Romance with Julie Chrisley

Anna Delvey has the ideal next partner for Dancing With the Stars pro Ezra Sosa: Julie Chrisley.

In an exclusive chat with Us Weekly, Sosa, 24, humorously noted how his Instagram DMs are filled with DWTS enthusiasts suggesting which “new convicted hottie” should be his next partner.

“First, it was Julie Chrisley, then Karen Read, and after that Luigi Mangione,” he joked. “Anna is really hoping I get paired with Julie Chrisley next season. She even texted me during that whole pardon situation saying, ‘I hope you have Julie Chrisley next season.’”

Sosa hasn’t dismissed the idea as season 34 approaches.

“I told her, ‘I’m afraid we’d advance further than you and I did.’ Honestly, I think we could! Whether it’s Julie or her husband [Todd Chrisley], I’m sure we’d find a way. I’ll be back next season, and hopefully — fingers crossed — we’ll make it past the first week. That’s the target.”

ABC audiences first met Sosa as a pro during season 33 when he partnered with Delvey, 34. Her participation in Dancing With the Stars sparked significant discussion due to her past arrest in 2018. Delvey spent two years in prison after being convicted of grand larceny, second-degree larceny, and theft of services. Released on $10,000 bail in 2022, she was subjected to house arrest.

During the show, DWTS frequently highlighted Delvey’s ankle monitor before her elimination just two weeks in.

“I thought, ‘Wow, they were really building me up.’ It felt like they were saying, ‘If only you smiled more, if you did X, Y, Z, things would be so much better,’” she shared on Tori Spelling‘s “Misspelling” podcast in September 2024. “It felt as if they went to great lengths to ensure I was comfortable, only to cut me from the show so early. I sense it was an attempt to embarrass me by getting eliminated before Eric [Roberts] or Reginald [VelJohnson] in a dance competition. But in the grand scheme of things, it’s not that significant.”

Delvey described her elimination as “somewhat disheartening,” adding, “It felt like a waste of my time to go through all this just to be cast aside. I know the show was thrilled to have me, but a large segment of the audience isn’t typically those who would support me.”

Reflecting on her time, Delvey expressed pride in the progress she made during her stint on DWTS.

“I don’t think I performed the worst on the show,” she remarked. “We got eliminated, and there were couples we outperformed who remained on, which seems a bit suspicious for a show called Dancing With the Stars and not Gossiping With the Stars or Making Friends With the Stars.”

The pressure is on for Dancing With the Stars to surpass the record-breaking achievements of season 33 — and Us Weekly has some suggestions for how season 34 can elevate the stakes. Two celebrity contestants are already known, with Robert Irwin and influencer Alix Earle competing for the sought-after mirrorball trophy when DWTS returns to […]

Julie, 52, was indicted along with her husband Todd, 56, in 2019 for charges related to tax evasion, bank and wire fraud, and conspiracy. After their convictions in 2022, Todd received a 12-year prison sentence while Julie was sentenced to seven years. The couple has continually proclaimed their innocence and is in the process of appealing their sentences. They were released in May after President Donald Trump granted clemency to the former reality TV stars.

While it’s still uncertain if Julie will participate in the upcoming season — and potentially team up with Sosa — the beloved ABC series has confirmed that TikToker Alix Earle and Robert Irwin, son of Steve Irwin, will be featured in the next season.

Viewers of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives were also surprised to see Jen Affleck and Whitney Leavitt earn spots in the upcoming season. During his discussion with Us, Sosa shared his thoughts on the Mormon casting.

“The more, the merrier,” Sosa, who hails from near Salt Lake City, remarked. “There can never be too many Mormons on Dancing With the Stars.”

Sosa elaborated: “Utah kids all have their interests. Mine was dance, while my neighbor played piano. Every kid had a sport or hobby. The dance culture in Utah is quite significant, especially in ballroom.”

Dancing With the Stars season 34 debuts on ABC and Disney+ on September 16 at 8 p.m. ET, with new episodes streaming on Hulu the following day.
