FBI Season 8 Premiere Promises ‘Chaos’ Following Isobel’s Death Scare
Following the gripping FBI season 7 finale that left Isobel’s life hanging by a thread, fans can expect another thrilling experience as season 8 kicks off, according to two of the show’s major stars.
“It’s a life-or-death scenario,” Zeeko Zaki, who portrays Special Agent Omar Adom “OA” Zidan, revealed to Us Weekly while promoting the upcoming season, set to premiere on Monday, October 13.
Missy Peregrym, who plays OA’s partner, Special Agent Maggie Bell, added, “There is indeed a life-or-death situation, and it’s not just Isobel who’s in peril. We are also on the line.”
When season 7 concluded in May, SAC Isobel Castille (Alana De La Garza) was thought to be dead after a bomb exploded at 26 Fed. However, Isobel survived the blast and faked her death, secretly collaborating to help her team determine which terrorist organization had infiltrated the FBI and who among them might be involved.
Although they ultimately solved the case, Isobel started slurring her words while speaking to her team back at headquarters. Suddenly, she collapsed and lost consciousness.
“She doesn’t have a pulse,” Maggie informed ASAC Jubal Valentine (Jeremy Sisto) just before the credits rolled, leaving viewers anxious about Isobel’s fate.
“We keep you guessing,” Zaki, 35, shared with Us earlier this month, indicating that Isobel’s fate won’t be revealed right at the start of the season 8 premiere. “There are some tense moments as we pick up where we left off.”
Peregrym, 43, mentioned that the FBI team is “unaware of what will transpire with her throughout the episode,” but she added that Jubal will “step into her role and make some difficult decisions.”
Amid Jubal’s own uncertainties as the team leader, Maggie and OA “find themselves in a situation where we desperately need the FBI to come rescue us.”
“It’s chaotic, and it’s fantastic. It’s such a compelling episode to return to,” Peregrym hinted.
The actress noted that there is “definitely” an emotional strain on the entire team at 26 Fed as Isobel’s condition remains uncertain.
“It’s especially hard for Jubal because he’s the one waiting for updates on Isobel’s condition while also coping with his new role,” Peregrym explained to Us. “The intensity really lies in his character as we handle our operations on the ground, but it’s all compelling stuff.”
In the season 8 premiere, the team will be assigned a “routine investigation” to locate a missing federal judge that “takes a dark turn as they discover the judge was searching for his abducted son on a secluded island at the city’s outskirts, where law and order have collapsed,” according to the official summary.
Zaki told Us that the case could be likened to the “Saving Private Ryan episode,” referencing the 1998 film about a group of U.S. soldiers who go behind enemy lines to recover a paratrooper believed to be dead during World War II.
“It’s really a fresh scenario that we find ourselves in, and it’s exciting to see how we’ll navigate out of it,” the actor disclosed.
Peregrym, on the other hand, described the beginning of season 8 as “extremely intense” and “incredibly fast-paced,” noting that the first episode sets the stage for what’s to come this season.
“We have many intriguing challenges ahead,” she concluded. “It promises to be an exhilarating journey.”
FBI season 8 premieres on CBS on Monday, October 13, at 9 p.m. ET.
