HGTV enthusiasts have been heartbroken over the losses of several remarkable stars.

In recent years, viewers of House Hunters mourned the loss of Suzanne Whang, who passed away after a courageous battle with breast cancer.

Additionally, fans may recall Carol Duvall, the long-time host of The Carol Duvall Show, who was confirmed to have died in July 2023 at the age of 97.

In December 2025, it was announced that Holmes on Homes star Frank Cozzolino had passed away after being diagnosed with lymphoma.

Hollywood has been in mourning for some of its most iconic figures in 2025. Throughout the summer, we faced the loss of Anne Burrell, Ozzy Osbourne, Hulk Hogan, Malcolm-Jamal Warner, and Brandon Blackstock. In October, we lost the renowned zoologist Jane Goodall, Diane Keaton, Grammy-winning R&B artist D’Angelo, and more. The following month, Dallas Cowboys defensive end Marshawn Kneeland also passed away.

“My dad is cherished by many,” wrote Filomena Cozzolino, Frank’s daughter, via Instagram after his death. “He was a man brimming with passion, empathy, brutal honesty, and integrity.”

Holmes on Homes star Frank Cozzolino passed away in December 2025 following a battle with lymphoma, a type of cancer affecting the lymphatic system, as reported by his daughter. He was 56.

Cozzolino was featured alongside Mike Holmes on HGTV’s Holmes on Homes, working to renovate poorly built homes.

“Frank made us better. His legacy will continue in every home he improved,” Holmes expressed via Instagram at the time of his friend’s passing. “Frank could walk into even the most challenging electrical issue, crack a joke in his unique way, and suddenly, the atmosphere felt lighter. That’s just who he was. Frank didn’t just excel at his work — he genuinely cared.”

Loren Ruch

HGTV House Party co-host Loren Ruch passed away in June 2025 due to acute myeloid leukemia. He was 55.

Ruch had been a key programming executive at HGTV since 2008, overseeing productions for shows like HGTV Dream Home, White House Christmas, and A Very Brady Renovation.

“Rest in peace, my friend,” Bobby Berk wrote in a tribute via Instagram. “You were always such a beacon of warmth in a dark world and will be dearly missed 💔.”

The Carol Duvall Show host Carol Duvall passed away in July 2023 at 97, as confirmed by her family to The New York Times.

Duvall inspired her viewers to create their own picture frames, greeting cards, placemats, jewelry, Christmas decorations, and more through her nationally aired programs on ABC and HGTV.

Suzanne Whang

House Hunters host Suzanne Whang passed away in September 2019 after her long struggle with breast cancer. She was 56.

“Suzanne took her last breath at home, as I sat by her side and stroked her,” her partner, Jeff Vezain, shared in a message via People. “A lifetime filled with love, adventure, humor, and joy now lives in our hearts. … She was deeply uplifted by the love from her family, friends, and those she had yet to meet.”

Frank Miller

In November 2017, Flip or Flop stars Tarek El Moussa and Christina Haack grieved the death of their friend and contractor Frank Miller after he was diagnosed with laryngeal cancer.

“You have impacted not just myself and my family, but countless others around the globe,” El Moussa wrote via Instagram at the time of Miller’s passing. “You have touched so many lives with your indomitable spirit. I’ve never met anyone quite like you, and I doubt I ever will.”

Haack added, “Frank, from the moment I met you, I held you in the highest regard. You were hardworking and genuine. Being around you was always enjoyable, and you had a way of making me laugh. You fought valiantly! You are cherished and respected by all who knew you. Heaven has a special place reserved for you. Love you and miss you❤️ #RIP.”

Over the years, the hosts and personalities of various HGTV shows have been candid about their relationships. Tarek El Moussa and Christina Haack made headlines when their show Flip or Flop premiered in April 2013, showcasing their property renovations in Southern California along with their family life as a then-married couple and parents of two.

Chris Hyndman

TV personality Chris Hyndman died in August 2015 at the age of 49. His mother, Glenda Hyndman, reported to the Toronto Star that her son was a sleepwalker and that his passing was “an unfortunate accident.”

Hyndman, alongside Steven Sabados, formed a well-known Canadian design and lifestyle duo featured in HGTV shows such as Designer Guys, Design Rivals, and So Chic.
