Friends Cast Comes Together to Raise Funds for Matthew Perry Foundation

Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, and David Schwimmer have collaborated with the late Friends star Matthew Perry’s foundation to raise funds for a meaningful cause.

“Great news! The cast has joined forces with @soundwaves_art and artist Tim Wakefield to launch a special collection of artwork this holiday season,” announced the Matthew Perry foundation via Instagram on Thursday, December 11. “Tim has created stunning designs from the actual soundwaves of the Friends theme song, each inspired by a different character, with every cast member signing a limited edition of artworks.”

Each abstract piece is named after the iconic characters from Friends. The post featured photos of Aniston, 56, Cox, 61, Kudrow, 62, LeBlanc, 58, and Schwimmer, 59, as they signed their character-themed art. The nonprofit also revealed that certain portraits will feature Perry’s signature.

“In collaboration with the estate of @mattyperry4, we have produced a highly limited edition of artworks embossed with Matthew’s official signature,” the announcement continued. “All proceeds will support charities chosen by the cast, including the @MatthewPerryFoundation and its efforts to assist those affected by addiction.”

We were more than just castmates; we are a family,” the stars—Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, and David Schwimmer—shared with Us Weekly.

The artwork is available for purchase on the Sound Waves Art Foundation’s website.

Aniston, Cox, Kudrow, LeBlanc, and Schwimmer starred in Friends alongside Perry for ten seasons, from 1994 to 2004. Following the show’s end, the cast maintained their close bond.

In October 2023, Perry passed away from an accidental overdose. The autopsy indicated that his death resulted from the “acute effects of ketamine.”

“We are all so utterly devastated by the loss of Matthew. We were more than just castmates; we are a family,” the Friends cast expressed in a joint statement to Us Weekly at that time. “There is so much to say, but now we need a moment to grieve and process this unimaginable loss. In time, we will share more when we are ready. For now, our thoughts and love are with Matty’s family, friends, and all who loved him around the world.”

Before his passing, Perry openly discussed his battles with addiction and substance abuse. His loved ones established the foundation in his honor to support others facing similar challenges.

Aniston, Cox, Kudrow, LeBlanc, and Schwimmer attended Perry’s memorial in Los Angeles alongside his family and friends.

Jennifer Aniston believes that a Friends reunion without Matthew Perry is unimaginable. “It would be literally, physically impossible,” Aniston, 56, stated in an interview with Harper’s Bazaar on October 8. Perry passed away from an accidental ketamine overdose at the time.

This year, Aniston shared her thoughts on how surreal it would be for the Friends cast to reunite without Perry, who had a significant presence in their lives. (The cast reunited in 2021 for an HBO Max special titled Friends: The Reunion, where they revisited the set and reflected on the series. It marked Perry’s last onscreen appearance.)

“It would be literally, physically impossible,” she reiterated regarding a potential Friends revival or remake without Perry during an October interview with Harper’s Bazaar.

Aniston remarked on the unique magic of collaborating with her co-stars: “There’s something about the chemistry of the cast that created a lightning-in-a-bottle moment, which just happened to be captured on film.”
