Gabrielle Union Reveals Dog’s Mischief: Poops on Dwyane Wade’s Pillow During His Absence

Former NBA star Dwyane Wade‘s wife, actress Gabrielle Union, might have revealed a bit too much about why she doesn’t permit their family dog to sleep in bed with them.

Wade, 43, served as a celebrity guest host alongside Jenna Bush Hager on Today’s Jenna & Friends from July 7 to 11. During the Friday, July 11 episode, Union, 52, joined Hager, 43, and her husband to participate in the The Great Debate segment of the show.

The conversation focused on the topic: “Should you allow your dog to sleep in bed with you?”

Union, 52, contended that their French bulldog, Trey, should not be allowed in their bed and elaborated on her reasoning.

“Trey loves D in a way that is unhealthy for everyone,” Union stated. “He literally cries and screams like a human whenever he’s left alone.”

Union added that when Wade leaves the house, Trey becomes so upset that he “returns to our bed, but thankfully only on his side, and he will poop right on his pillow.”

“So no, he does not need to be sleeping with us,” Union concluded as a stunned Hager replied, “Wow.”

“The poop part really got me,” Hager told Wade as he began advocating for allowing Trey in bed, asserting that Trey no longer poops on his pillow.

“I came prepared,” Wade announced, ready for The Great Debate. “I’m trying to establish a bond with Trey. Emotional bonding is crucial, everybody,” Wade explained while footage of him and Trey having fun played on the screen.

“I want to be a role model for Trey. If I leave the house, I need him to guard it. So it’s important to boost his confidence,” Wade elaborated.

“I take him to the beach. We run together. I wake up at 6 a.m., doing all these activities,” a proud Wade concluded as the buzzer chimed.

To Union’s surprise, Hager ultimately declared Wade the winner of the debate due to the visuals he presented.

“The poop factored in, but that B-roll really impressed me; I have to give it to Dwyane,” Hager confessed. “Winning matters, and sometimes visuals can make a difference,” Wade added.

Marlon Wayans, Sigourney Weaver, Gabrielle Union, and Dwyane Wade are among the proud celebrity parents who have vocalized their support for their trans and nonbinary children in recent years. Many notable figures, from reality stars to Oscar winners, have shared their children’s journeys publicly to promote acceptance of the trans community.

Nonetheless, fans in the comments section disagreed with both Wade and Hager, stating, “No Jenna, she wins this. Just no.”

“Watching this live, I cringed! 😂😂 (Union) wins hands down,” another commenter concurred.

“I’m definitely an animal lover, but no pets in my bed please! (except my husband),” joked another fan.

In addition to Union’s appearance on the show, their 6-year-old daughter, Kaavia, also joined in, interviewing her dad.

During the interview, Kaavia asked her father when he felt most proud of her.

Wade expressed that he felt most proud of her in that very moment. “I’m most proud of you right now, in this moment,” he said.

“You’re hosting the interview for Jenna and Friends on the Today show at just 6 years old. You’re doing an outstanding job,” Wade praised his daughter.
