Halyna Hutchins’ Family Responds to Alec Baldwin’s New Reality Show

The relatives of Halyna Hutchins, the cinematographer who tragically lost her life on the set of “Rust” in 2021, have expressed their disapproval of Alec Baldwin’s new show on TLC and have insisted that he participate in a deposition regarding their wrongful death lawsuit against him.

On March 3, attorneys representing Hutchins’ parents, Olga Solovey and Anatolii Androsovych, along with her sister, Svetlana Zemko, submitted a notification to Baldwin regarding their intention to depose him on May 9.

The legal team, including Gloria Allred, John Carpenter, Carlos Hernandez, and Alina Vulic, stated in an announcement to NBC News that the deposition is set for the Friday before Mother’s Day “because Halyna’s mother deserves to hear Mr. Baldwin’s account under oath regarding the circumstances that led to her daughter’s death.”

“He might be disheartened, but this video is not intended for his reality show,” the legal team claimed. “Instead, it aims to unveil the truth about Alec Baldwin in the quest for Justice for Halyna’s mother, father, and sister, which they rightfully seek.”

In 2021, Baldwin was on the set of “Rust” near Santa Fe, New Mexico, when he stated that a prop gun he was holding inadvertently discharged, resulting in Hutchins’ death and injuring the film’s director, Joel Souza.

Criminal charges against Baldwin were dismissed last year after a judge determined that prosecutors had suppressed evidence from the defense; however, he is now facing civil lawsuits from Hutchins’ family members as well as her widower, Matthew Hutchins. Baldwin had pleaded not guilty in relation to the criminal case.

Baldwin has since appeared in the TLC reality show “The Baldwins,” which showcases his life with his wife Hilaria Baldwin and their seven children, premiering on February 23.

The legal representatives for Hutchins’ family condemned the reality show.

“The Baldwin reality show simultaneously celebrates Mr. Baldwin’s joy in being with his children while overshadowing the fact that Alec Baldwin has taken a child away from her parents,” they remarked in the statement. “This is the painful reality that Halyna’s parents and sister endure every single day.”

According to the attorneys, Baldwin has never extended condolences to Hutchins’ family after her passing.

“He has never reached out to her parents or sister to express his sorrow, and to date, he has not accepted responsibility for Halyna’s death,” they said.

The initial episode of the TLC series does mention, “Halyna lost her life in the most unimaginable tragedy; a son lost his mother. We will carry this pain forever. This will be part of our family’s narrative.”

The TLC series frequently references “Rust.” In the show, Alec Baldwin discusses experiencing PTSD following the incident. In another segment, Hilaria Baldwin remarks, “A son lost his mom in the most unimaginable tragedy. This is something that will never be forgotten, and we’re striving to parent through it.”

Attorneys representing Baldwin did not provide an immediate response to NBC News’ request for comment.
