“I’ve reached a much calmer and more fulfilling phase in my life now. My daughter has helped ground me significantly, and I’m so different compared to ten years ago when I began my journey on Below Deck. So when Sandy contacted me and asked, ‘Would you like to join me for this?’ I responded with a resounding, ‘Absolutely,'” Hannah shared with Us, reflecting on her renewed friendship with Sandy. “With so much chaos in the world, so much stemming from hatred, sitting down with Sandy for a few hours for an honest conversation was incredibly cathartic and healing.”
Hannah elaborated: “I dislike holding onto negativity or bad feelings. Thus, being able to meet and truly open up to each other was wonderful. Shortly after, a new opportunity came up six to eight months later.”
Sandy expressed that her “heart just lit up from within” after reconnecting with her former chief stew. Hannah noted that differing opinions during their time on Below Deck led to their initial conflict.
“I texted Sandy the other day, saying, ‘I’m thrilled for us to gather as friends and figure out how we arrived at this point in our lives because I understand my history, including what transpired in my childhood,'” Hannah explained. “Much of it contributes to my aversion to authority, which might be why I was a challenging crew member to manage. But Sandy doesn’t know that.”
Moreover, Sandy’s viewpoint is also significant, with Hannah adding, “Sandy would have her own perspectives and journey, especially when she first took the helm on Below Deck. It must have been really challenging stepping in as captain because, as a captain, you want a fully professional crew, a passionate team eager to be there. But that’s not the dynamic on Below Deck.”
