Hilaria and Alec Baldwin Received $95,000 for Their Baby Photos
Reflecting on her renowned marriage to Alec Baldwin, Hilaria Baldwin reminisced about selling the initial photos of their eldest children.
In the episode of “The Viall Files” podcast on Wednesday, December 10, Hilaria, 41, discussed her choice to share photos of her and Alec’s kids on social media.
“I don’t think there’s a definitive answer, but I found that the more I tried to keep them hidden, the more interest grew. The culture—though 12 years ago seems like a short time—was quite different back then,” she said. “So, I sold the first photos of our first few kids.”
Hilaria emphasized that she “donated all the proceeds” to charity.
“It felt inappropriate anyway. So I made the decision to sell the photos and then donated the money,” she shared. “The first child brought in $95,000, and I donated all of it. It felt significant.”
Hilaria aimed to support those in need. “I donated it to an organization in Mallorca, where my family resides, aimed at helping children who have suffered sexual abuse,” she explained. “I thought, ‘Okay, here’s the situation. Someone’s going to profit from this. There’s a profit to be made, and I want to direct that towards something beneficial.’”
Since then, Hilaria has observed a decrease in interest.
“That’s how I handled my first few. As I had more children, the demand lessened, and the industry is evolving,” she continued. “I began sharing photos on Instagram. It transitioned from lots of people vying for the photos to simply sharing them. I learned from someone more famous than I am that the more you post, the lower the demand and the less harassment you experience.”
She concluded: “It all depends on how much mental strain it was causing us. Alec, who has a lot of trauma, found it incredibly distressing and that would lead us into uncomfortable situations. So I concluded, ‘This is better.’ That’s why I do what I do.”
Alec and Hilaria are parents to seven kids: Carmen Gabriela, 12, Rafael Thomas, 10, Leonardo Ángel Charles, 8, Romeo Alejandro David, 7, Eduardo “Edu” Pao Lucas, 5, María Lucía Victoria, 4, and Ilaria Catalina Irena, 3.
Prior to finding love with Hilaria, Alec, 67, was married to Kim Basinger from 1993 to 2002. Their divorce concluded after a contentious custody battle, which later strained Alec’s relationship with his daughter Ireland, 30, whom he shares with Basinger, 72.
“My relationship with my daughter Ireland was severely affected by my divorce from her mother and the lengthy custody battle,” Alec recounted in an episode of his and Hilaria’s reality series, *The Baldwins*, in March. “The financial aspects dragged on for a year and a half, and everything else revolved around custody. It was just chaotic and really challenging.”
Alec expressed regret to Ireland (who is now a mother to her 2-year-old daughter, Holland), saying, “One of my biggest regrets was how it impacted Ireland. But she is an adult now, 29 years old. I have a good relationship with her, and she loves the kids I share with Hilaria. She is very kind to them and acts as their older sister, but she isn’t part of that immediate group.”
Alec added: “This is why I prioritize my relationship with [my daughter] Carmen; I want to ensure I have a strong bond with her. Because I have a daughter once again.”
