Hilary Duff and Son Luca Celebrate Special Red Carpet Appearance at Broadway Show
Hilary Duff was accompanied by her son Luca, who is 12, to cheer on her former co-stars during their Broadway debuts.
Duff, 37, was present at the Thursday, December 12, premiere of The Cult of Love, looking stylish in a black dress and a leather trench coat. She posed on the red carpet outside the Hayes Theater in New York City with Luca, who was dressed in a checked button-down shirt, black pants, and a cozy hoodie.
The Cult of Love features strong performances from Molly Bernard and Chris Lowell. Duff worked alongside Bernard, 36, on Younger and with Lowell, 40, on How I Met Your Father. The cast also includes Shailene Woodley, Zachary Quinto, Barbie Ferreira, Rebecca Henderson, and Mare Winningham.
Over the years, Duff has maintained close relationships with many of her former co-stars, including Bernard, who acted as a doula for Duff during the birth of one of her daughters.
Duff is a mother of four, beginning her parenting journey in 2012 with the arrival of Luca. She shares her only son with her ex-husband Mike Comrie. Following her marriage to Matthew Koma in 2019, they welcomed three daughters: Banks, 6, Mae, 6, and Townes, who is 7 months old.
“One wonderful thing about Matt and me is that sometimes we feel a bit too young for all these responsibilities. We’re both the same age,” Duff shared exclusively with Us Weekly earlier this month. “We’re 37, and we don’t know how to keep up. It’s like our feet are always moving. Maybe we’re on a moving sidewalk or something, I’m not sure.”
She continued, “Whenever there’s something needed at home, he’s like a great assistant because he understands me. … It’s taken having four kids for me to realize that I can’t manage everyone’s happiness and I don’t need to be the cruise director for everything.”
Duff openly discusses her coparenting experience with retired hockey player Comrie, who is now 44, following their split in 2016.
“Luca and I often talk about [Mike],” she revealed to Grazia in May 2022. “I enjoy sharing stories about how I met his father, the good times we had together, and the happiness I felt when I discovered I was pregnant and how we managed that experience. It’s all very heartfelt.”
At that time, Duff also elaborated on her parenting approach.
“I love to engage and play with them and really listen to them,” she described. “Of course, I’m also the one who enforces discipline. It’s all fun and games until they reach certain boundaries.”
