Hilary Duff’s Husband Matthew Koma Defends Her Against Troll Criticism

Hilary Duff’s spouse, Matthew Koma, responded to an online troll who criticized his wife.

In a post on Tuesday, April 15, via an Instagram carousel shared by Duff, 37, showcasing her in three different shots, Koma, who is also 37, took exception to a follower’s comment suggesting that Duff had altered her appearance with cosmetic work.

“Why did she do Botox, I swear to god everyone else is the same,” the troll remarked, prompting Koma to reply, “Get f**d, butterfly.”

Koma’s retort, who wed the Lizzie McGuire star in 2019, garnered significant fan support, racking up 49 Likes within six hours. One admirer even commented, “@matthewkoma second that. Send your wife a hello from a fan.”

Apart from the troll’s comment, Duff’s carousel received an outpouring of admiration. Radiating in a daffodil-hued outfit paired with impeccable makeup and softly tousled hair, Duff captured her fans’ hearts. “@matthewkoma this pic gotta be in your wallet,” one follower wrote, while another added, “The perfect spring look.”

Boy Meets World star Danielle Fishel chimed in with, “So beautiful!”

Duff and Koma, who is also a musician, are parents to three daughters: Banks, 6, Mae, 4, and Townes, who is 10 months old. Duff also has a 13-year-old son, Luca, from her previous marriage to Mike Comrie. In December 2024, she shared with Us Weekly that she and Koma have had to learn to adapt to their bustling household.

“The wonderful thing about Matt and me is that sometimes I think we don’t feel old enough for all these responsibilities. We’re the same age, 37, and we’re figuring out how to keep up,” Duff revealed exclusively to Us at that time. “It feels like our feet are always moving. Maybe we’re on one of those moving sidewalks or something, I don’t know.”

The “So Yesterday” singer explained that she and Koma have developed a solid routine to keep their home running smoothly. “Whenever there’s a need in the house, he acts like a fantastic assistant because he understands me,” she told Us.

Koma and Duff’s journey began when they worked together on her 2015 album Breathe In. Breathe Out. On the first anniversary of their engagement, Duff paid tribute to her supportive partner on Instagram. “I will always choose sandwiches and 8 p.m. bedtimes over fancy date nights… over and over again,” she shared in May 2020. “My best friend, lover, and papa bear that cannot be rivaled… it’s always been you.”

Having received a lifetime ban from Twitter in 2023, Koma has not shied away from sharing his viewpoints, recently calling out Kanye West for the rapper’s antisemitic remarks. “Hey I can make a shirt too – link in bio,” Koma posted on Instagram on February 10, alongside an image of a white T-shirt displaying “F*** Ye,” a nod to West’s own controversial T-shirt design.
