How Erika Kirk Discusses Charlie Kirk’s Death with Her Daughter
Erika Kirk (née Frantzve) is sharing her journey as a single mother in her first television interview following Charlie Kirk’s tragic passing.
In a preview of her conversation with Fox News host Jesse Watters, Erika, 36, disclosed that her 3-year-old daughter has been asking questions about her father’s fate.
“Yes, my daughter keeps asking, but it’s so sweet because I explain a few things to her,” Erika revealed to Watters, 47, in an interview slated to air on Wednesday, November 5. “I told her, ‘If you ever want to talk to Daddy, just look up at the sky and start talking to him — he can hear you.’”
While Erika — who also has a 17-month-old son — previously told her children that their dad was on a “work trip with Jesus,” she has been able to provide a bit more clarity to her eldest child.
“I told her, ‘Daddy is in heaven,’” Erika recounted while holding back tears. “She asked, ‘Do you think I could go there someday?’ I said, ‘Sweetheart, we will all go one day.’”
On September 10, Charlie was fatally shot during a speech at Utah Valley University as part of his American Comeback Tour. He was 31.
The conservative commentator and Turning Point USA leader was honored with a public memorial at Arizona’s State Farm Stadium on September 21. During the televised service, Erika delivered a heartfelt eulogy for her husband and expressed her forgiveness toward the suspected shooter.
In September, authorities arrested 22-year-old Tyler Robinson. He has been charged with aggravated murder, felony firearm discharge, two counts of obstruction of justice, and two counts of witness tampering, among other charges. He has pleaded not guilty to all allegations.
During her interview with Watters, Erika addressed reports indicating that Robinson’s defense team is seeking to prohibit cameras in the courtroom.
From Erika’s viewpoint, she advocates for transparency throughout the trial.
“Cameras were all around my husband when he was murdered. There have been cameras documenting my friends and family grieving,” she stated in another sneak peek clip. “Cameras have been focused on me, analyzing every move, every smile, every tear. We deserve cameras in there. Why not allow transparency? There’s nothing to conceal. I know there isn’t, because I’ve seen the basis of this case.”
She added, “Let everyone witness what true evil looks like. This incident could affect a generation and countless generations to come.”
Later this week, Fox Nation will host its annual Patriot Awards in Brookville, New York. This year, Jason Aldean and his wife, Brittany Aldean, are expected to present the inaugural Charlie Kirk Legacy Award to Erika.
According to Fox, the award recognizes individuals who embody Charlie’s ideals of faith, family, and free speech.
The Patriot Awards will be broadcast on Fox Nation Thursday, November 6, at 8 p.m. ET. Erika’s interview with Watters is scheduled to air on Jesse Watters Primetime on Fox News Wednesday, November 5, at 8 p.m. ET.
