How Josh Allen Rallies Behind Hailee Steinfeld’s Acting Career
Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen shared insights about how he supports his wife Hailee Steinfeld in her acting endeavors — though he notes that she doesn’t require much assistance.
During his appearance on the September 19 episode of ESPN’s Pat McAfee Show, Allen, 29, responded to a question about how they back each other in their respective careers.
“My wife texted me during this,” McAfee, 38, mentioned, relaying a recent text exchange with his wife Samantha. “She said, ‘I know you don’t care, but Josh Allen’s lady is in the show Emily Dickinson. I love that show. You should ask him if he runs lines with her.’”
However, Allen disclosed that he rarely gets early access to Steinfeld’s scenes before watching her finished projects on screen.
“I wouldn’t say we run lines,” he confessed on Friday. “She goes through all her scripts by herself. She updates me on them occasionally, but we eventually do some improv together, which is pretty fun.”
Allen added, “My wife is an absolute superstar. She’s incredible, what can I say?”
The NFL player and Steinfeld, 28, have been a couple since 2023, tying the knot in May during Allen’s offseason.
“It’s honestly the best,” Allen said on the “Fitz & Whit” podcast earlier this month when discussing married life. “I genuinely enjoy it [and] love it. There’s so much freedom in it, and we will always be in the honeymoon phase. She’s a freaking rock star. I love her, and I can’t fathom how she handles fame, but she does.”
Much like Allen supports Steinfeld’s acting and music careers, she returns the favor for his football endeavors.
“Football season is back, which means a few things,” Steinfeld wrote in a September 2024 issue of her “Beau Society” newsletter. “I get to watch my favorite person continue to make NFL history every week (go off 17) [and] we’re just a few weeks away from drastic temperature drops … where you’ll find me sipping hot chocolate bundled in vintage Bills gear.”
Steinfeld is often seen cheering for Allen from a private box at Highmark Stadium during home games for the Bills. (The NFL team’s 2025-2026 season kicked off earlier in September.)
“On game days, I typically stick to jeans, a T-shirt, and a hat. That’s my go-to style,” Steinfeld mentioned in her newsletter dated September 5, elaborating on her game day aesthetic. “I also enjoy digging into my vintage collection (which has become quite a treasure trove in our basement), seeking out special pieces for the festive atmosphere that is a Sunday at Highmark Stadium. … A typical outfit might consist of a turtleneck bodysuit under a large vintage Bills sweatshirt, comfy jeans, high socks, sneakers, and a beanie.”
