How Kate Middleton Secures Her Tiaras with a Clever Hairstyle
Princess Kate Middleton has perfectly mastered the delicate art of securing her tiara to her hair with elegance.
On Wednesday, December 3, the 43-year-old wowed guests at a state banquet welcoming German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier to the United Kingdom, donning Queen Victoria’s Oriental Circlet Tiara. A photograph taken from behind during the event showcased how Kate’s tiara was stylishly secured. Her hair was artfully twisted into a neat knot around the ornate piece, complemented by loose curls cascading down her shoulders.
Fans took to X on December 4 to share their admiration for Kate’s hidden hairstyle. Comments included, “Smart Lady. 🥰🥰🥰🥰,” and “If I were wearing THE natural diamond tiara for queens, I’d make sure it’s SECURED,” while another noted, “This is how you wear a tiara.”
Designed by Prince Albert in 1853, the tiara was “originally set with a collection of opals, one of Albert’s favorite gemstones, along with 2,600 diamonds,” according to Aarrard.
“Later, believing that opals were unlucky, Queen Alexandra replaced them with rubies,” the site mentions. Queen Elizabeth II inherited the tiara in 2002 but only wore it once during her reign in 2005 while in Malta.
Kate paired the tiara with a stunning blue Jenny Packham dress featuring an asymmetrical neckline, an array of sequins, a pleated skirt, and a flowing cape that created a graceful small train.

She accessorized with a blue sash and a star on her chest, further enhancing her ensemble with dazzling diamond earrings that once belonged to Queen Elizabeth II.
Kate completed her glamorous look with a flawless makeup application, featuring hydrated skin, bronzed cheeks, and soft blush. Her eye shadow was expertly blended into a smokey wing, paired with well-defined brows and glossy pink lips.
Walking into the banquet beside her husband, Prince William, who looked impeccably dressed in a black blazer accented with a bright red collar and cuffs, Kate was truly a vision. He paired his outfit with a white dress shirt and matching black trousers, complemented by a blue sash and various pins.
Kate has consistently delivered breathtaking looks at state banquets. In September, she looked ethereal in a stunning gold dress while welcoming President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump to Windsor Castle.
Her luxurious silk dress, crafted by British designer Phillipa Leply, featured a strapless white bodice and an elegant A-line skirt. To elevate her ensemble, Kate layered a semi-sheer gold Chantilly lace evening coat adorned with shoulder pads, a high neck, and long sleeves.
Adding to the drama, she wore Queen Mary’s Lover’s Knot Tiara, known for its 19 diamond arches and pearl accents. Her equally elegant clutch featured an ivory silk design embellished with pearls.
