Hugh Grant’s Family: Discover His 5 Children and Their Mothers
Hugh Grant attributes much of his success to his family.
In a 2002 interview on Inside the Actors Studio, the British actor acknowledged his late mother, Fynvola MacLean, for “any acting talent that I may possess.”
Starting his career in the 1980s, Hugh has established himself as a prominent figure in the film industry. Alongside his acting endeavors, he has also built a family.
“It was the best thing that’s ever happened to me — it may sound clichéd, but it’s absolutely true. It’s wonderful to have so much love surrounding you,” the actor shared with People during a 2018 interview. “Suddenly, you find that you love someone more than yourself. It’s extraordinary in my case, and they love you back—it’s all magical.”
Grant has been open about his parenting experiences, even criticizing his children’s “posh private schools” in April 2025. He has advocated for increased outdoor play in schools.
“They’re the ones claiming they can’t go outside today because it’s raining, or won’t use the climbing frame because it’s windy,” he remarked in an article from U.K.’s The Telegraph. “It’s ridiculous — it seems to me we can create a new type of school, a set of schools that break away from tradition.”

“To my utter astonishment, while I was quite tipsy for several years in London around 13 years ago, I spotted this hot Swede at the other end of the bar. And that was her,” Hugh recounted about Eberstein in a November 2024 appearance on the “SmartLess” podcast. “She’s an athlete, nearly a professional tennis player, but she’s just too fiery. We grew closer, started having children, and now we are married. She’s definitely the one in charge in our family.”
