Iain Armitage from Young Sheldon Talks About Georgie and Mandy’s Cameo Appearance
Young Sheldon‘s Iain Armitage recently shared his thoughts on why there’s no hurry for him to appear on Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage.
“Honestly, it would be so fun to be on that show. I’m a huge fan [of the show and] of Montana Jordan and Emily Osment. They are so talented — everyone on that show is amazing,” Armitage, 17, told Us Weekly exclusively. “I watch the show all the time, and my whole family loves it. They’re all doing a fantastic job as a cast and as a show.”
Despite being a regular viewer, Armitage expressed his reservations about joining the cast — at least for now.
“With such a great cast already in place, I wouldn’t want to disrupt their dynamic. It’s really impressive, and I would be honored to be a part of it,” he remarked.
He added: “There are no current plans for my appearance, but if down the line that happens, it would be really exciting. For now, it’s nice to just be a fan and enjoy the show.”
Armitage gained fame for portraying Sheldon on the acclaimed CBS series, a prequel to The Big Bang Theory. The show focused on Sheldon’s childhood in Texas, introducing viewers to his brother Georgie (Jordan) and setting the stage for his romance with Mandy (Osment), leading to the spinoff Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage.
“I consider myself fortunate in various ways. Since I started my career so young, many people comment on how much I’ve changed. If I take on a new project, it’s an opportunity to distinguish myself,” Armitage noted. “But that’s not my main goal. I’m incredibly proud of the work I did on Young Sheldon. I loved every moment of those seven years. I’m not distancing myself from it at all; I’d love to be on Georgie and Mandy someday, but I’m also excited about new opportunities.”
Armitage is still active at CBS, recently landing a guest role on Ghosts.
“I’m looking forward to whatever comes next without forcing anything. I’m enjoying the journey, and it’s a lot of fun,” he concluded. “I appreciate the fact that I have options, especially if I ever want to revisit a character I love.”
He humorously shared his dream of having a “monopoly” on his favorite CBS shows: “I need to appear on Tracker and Survivor. I want to be dramatically rescued by Colter Shaw,” he joked with Us. “I’d love to pop up on every CBS show — that would be a blast!”
Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage airs on CBS Thursdays at 8 p.m. ET, with episodes available for streaming on Paramount+.
