Iga Swiatek Jokes ‘Swifties Will Kick Me Out’ After Trivia Mistake

Five-time Grand Slam champion Iga Świątek, an ardent admirer of Taylor Swift, might now find herself on the verge of being kicked out of the fan club.

The 24-year-old tennis sensation, who has openly expressed her adoration for the pop icon, was invited to take part in the “Shakespeare or Swift” challenge in a video shared on Instagram by the Bad Homburg Open on June 25.

This trend prompts participants to listen to a quote and decide if it’s from William Shakespeare or Swift.

To kick things off, Świątek was tasked with identifying: “On the very moment all was lost.”

Travis Kelce turned bashful when asked to sing his favorite Taylor Swift track. During his Tight End University event, the 35-year-old was prompted by the “Bussin’ With the Boys” podcast hosts to name his favorite Swift song, as shown in an Instagram Reel shared on June 26. “I mean, I guess ‘So High […]

“That’s it? That’s the entire line?” Świątek questioned, before mistakenly attributing it to Shakespeare.

The lyric is actually from Swift’s 2020 song “Evermore,” featuring Bon Iver.

“Oh my God. But your voice made it sound so much like Shakespeare,” Świątek commented to the social media admin reading the quotes. “Come on, don’t make it tougher.”

Next up was, “In black ink, my love may still shine bright.”

Świątek incorrectly guessed it was a Swift lyric, but it’s actually from Shakespeare’s “Sonnet 65.”

“I’m awful at this,” Świątek admitted after missing the first two.

Fortunately, her next quote, “What will become of me once I’ve lost my novelty,” was Świątek’s first correct answer.

This lyric is from “Nothing New,” a track released on Red (Taylor’s Version) in 2021, featuring Phoebe Bridgers.

The next line, “All that glitters is not gold,” was incorrectly attributed to Swift; it actually comes from Shakespeare’s The Merchant of Venice.

“Oh my God, Swifties are going to boot me out,” an exasperated Świątek exclaimed.

Finally, she was posed with the quote, “We know what we are, but know not what we may be.”

This line, from Shakespeare’s Hamlet, was correctly identified by Świątek, who gave a playful wink to the camera.

“I knew that,” she remarked.

The “Shakespeare or Swift” video noted that fans should go easy on Świątek after her mixed performance.

“Swifties x @iga.swiatek fans — this one’s for you! (Please don’t kick her out of the fandom, okay? 🩷),” the video’s caption stated. “P.S. Yes, our social team are Swifties too. Obviously. 💁‍♀️✨.”
