Inside the Divorce Settlement of Olivia and Ethan Plath

Welcome to Plathville stars Ethan and Olivia Plath have officially finalized their divorce nearly three years after their separation.

Per documents obtained by Us Weekly and filed in Minnesota’s First District Court in February, Ethan, 27, and his ex-wife Olivia, also 27, have mutually agreed on a financial settlement to end their marriage. As outlined in their divorce decree, they have chosen to forgo any possibility of seeking spousal support from one another.

“Both parties acknowledge that following the payment of standard living expenses, neither possesses the means to provide maintenance to the other,” states the document. “Each party believes that the waiver of maintenance is just and equitable, based on mutual considerations.”

Ethan will retain his personal bank and investment accounts, along with a collection of classic cars, including a 1976 Chrysler New Yorker (valued at $3,000), a 1978 Chrysler New Yorker ($5,000), and a 1937 Plymouth ($8,000).

Meanwhile, Olivia will keep her business, Sunshine Media, along with all respective investment and bank accounts, and a 2016 Subaru Outback, which wasn’t assigned a monetary value in the divorce settlement.

In the filings, Ethan stated his main employer as Welcome to Plathville network TLC and estimated his monthly income to be around $2,500. Olivia operates her own business, Sunshine Media, and also serves as a “group travel host in the State of Virginia,” with her income varying each month.

Both parties have agreed to be responsible for any debts incurred under their names, ensuring that their former spouse is “harmless from any payments related to the same.”

Olivia will retain her married name, “Plath,” as part of the settlement, choosing not to revert to her maiden name, “Meggs.”

Us has reached out to representatives for both Ethan and Olivia for comments.

News of the settlement follows the Welcome to Plathville season 8 premiere on Tuesday, March 31, where Ethan claimed that Olivia was delaying the finalization of their divorce. (The Plaths filed a mutual divorce petition in February 2024, citing an “irretrievable breakdown” as their reason for separating.)

“Olivia won’t call or respond to anything,” he expressed to viewers. “She’s deliberately trying to hold me back, making my life difficult. I believe she won’t let me go because she doesn’t want me to move on to someone else. I think that’s her underlying motive.”

Ethan also shared that he recently ended his relationship with Teegan Nichols after publicly announcing their romance in December 2024. The couple had been in a long-distance relationship since Ethan returned to Georgia from Minnesota while Nichols remained in Wisconsin.

“I understood she was frustrated with the long distance, and I kept mentioning that I would move to Wisconsin but didn’t follow through,” he stated. “You can only assure someone so many times, ‘I will do this,’ and when you don’t, it loses its meaning.”

Last October, Olivia disclosed on the “Lovett or Leave It” podcast that she contemplated divorce just one year into their marriage. She recounted feeling “overwhelmed by family issues” but decided to postpone pursuing a divorce due to her father’s advice.

“I recall my dad telling me, ‘Getting divorced will break God’s heart and it will break mine,’” she said. “[I thought], ‘I guess I need to work through this.’”

Ethan and Olivia exchanged vows in Whigham, Georgia, in October 2018 when they were both 20 years old. They did not have any children during their marriage.
