Inside the Z-Suite: How One Therapy Session Transformed Lauren Graham

Lauren Graham‘s role in Tubi’s The Z-Suite embodies the essence of self-healing — all within a single therapy session.

In a sneak peek from Us Weekly for the Thursday, February 27, episode, Mark McKinney‘s character George asserts his authority with Monica (Graham) and Kriska (Madison Shamoun).

“Perhaps this is the right moment to announce that I’m launching the campaign,” he declares. “I need to reassess my choices. You will have the opportunity to pitch, and the best idea will secure the campaign.”

Kriska is taken aback by the shift, but George remains firm, stating, “There’s nothing left to discuss. I appreciated your original ideas, but we both know you’ve been struggling ever since.”

While Monica was thrilled about the potential success, George cautioned her not to “get overly enthusiastic.”

“We have a strong history, but recently you’ve been off your game,” he advised Monica. “Crashing a Bat Mitzvah? Embarrassing yourself online? That should be reserved for divorced women flaunting their new tattoos.”

George added: “I’m hoping one of you can successfully convey what I need to Gen Z. I require younger customers to start buying my burgers before my older clientele is gone due to heartbreak.”

Monica, however, remained unfazed. “You don’t need to stress about me, George,” she replied. “I went to therapy once and fixed everything.”

The Z-Suite, which debuted earlier this month, is Tubi’s first original scripted comedy. The show centers on a boutique advertising agency in New York City, grappling with numerous generational conflicts between C-Suite executives and Gen Z employees. Alongside Graham, 57, Shamoun, 28, and McKinney, 65, the series also features Nico Santos, Spencer Stevenson, Anna Bezahler, and Rhys Darby.

“I get so excited when I read things quickly, I practically devoured [the script for this] in a hotel lobby and thought, ‘What a blast!’” Graham shared with TV Insider in February about joining the project. “I had been eager to be part of a half-hour [comedy] and was truly thrilled to meet the writer [Katie O’Brien].”

Graham was eager to see how the series would showcase generational interactions on screen.

“Much of it stems from Monica’s frustration with a young individual just starting out, who believes they should be in charge without having paid their dues or accumulated experience,” she discussed her character. “I find it intriguing when I encounter someone with immense confidence who doesn’t really deserve to have any. I still lack confidence, and I’ve been in this business forever.”

The Z-Suite premieres Thursdays on Tubi.
