Ireland Baldwin Criticizes Kim Kardashian over Alleged Elephant Purse

Ireland Baldwin criticized Kim Kardashian for purportedly flaunting a rare elephant leather Birkin in her show All’s Fair.

Daniel Wesson, a fashion-centric content creator from the account Birkin Junky, shared an Instagram Reel on November 21 featuring Kardashian, 45, with the gray Hermès bag in a clip from the Hulu legal drama where she portrays the glamorous divorce attorney Allura Grant. The Reel also showed Kardashian posing with the bag during a filming break.

“This is … Beyond,” a shocked Ireland, 30, commented on the post, according to Buzzfeed.

The daughter of former partners Alec Baldwin and Kim Basinger also expressed her feelings on Instagram Stories, stating, “This is so disgusting and shameful. I don’t understand how these people are supported the way they are.”

Notably, Kim Kardashian is known to own one of the most elusive Birkin bags in existence. The 42-year-old reality star was seen sporting the Himalayan Birkin bag — showcasing smooth crocodile skin, a white pattern with elegant brown lining, small handles, and silver accents — at an Al-Nassr vs. Paris Saint-Germain match in Osaka, Japan.

Us Weekly has reached out to Kardashian for a response.

Ireland was not alone in her criticism; many voiced concerns that Kardashian had crossed an ethical boundary.

“Hermès no longer produces elephant leather bags (Thank god), but in the 80s, there were bespoke orders made by a client who provided elephant hide from a hunting safari,” Wesson noted in the caption of his Kardashian-focused post. “These bags rarely surface but create a stir when they do 👜.”

According to PETA, the luxury brand never “officially” sold elephant leather bags but did create several from elephant skin. Such off-market purses have since appeared on high-end vintage retail sites like 1stDibs.

Kardashian, a collector of Birkin bags, enlisted stylist Soki Mak to curate her chic All’s Fair wardrobe, featuring vintage selections from John Galliano, Donna Karan, and Jean Paul Gaultier.

Kardashian reached out to Mak through Instagram about partnering on Allura’s look.

“Honestly, when I first opened the DM from Kim, I thought it was a fake profile,” Mak shared in a recent interview with Vogue. “We had collaborated on a few projects prior to the All’s Fair opportunity, but everything happened so fast that I didn’t have time to fully grasp the enormity of what we were about to do. It all felt very spontaneous.”

Mak explained that she and Kardashian were aware that the show would prompt discussions, regardless of personal preferences. “What we aimed to communicate with Allura is her disregard for others’ opinions. She knows her style and isn’t swayed by trends; she has fun with her fashion.”

Further, she remarked, “The confidence comes from a woman who wears her clothes rather than letting them wear her. There’s a liberating aspect to that, evident when Allura strides down the hallway in the law office, radiating confidence. These outfits were certainly exaggerated for television, particularly the Jean Paul Gaultier ensemble with the thong detail. While many on set were puzzled, Kim and producer Ryan Murphy understood it immediately.”
