Is ‘SNL’ New Tonight, April 5th?
The hit show “Saturday Night Live” is continuing to impress in its exciting 50th anniversary season.
In last week’s episode, Oscar-winning actress Mikey Madison, known for her role in “Anora,” showcased her comedic talent. The show also saw country music sensation Morgan Wallen, who left viewers— and some cast members— intrigued with his unexpected exit during the closing credits.
Madison is among a stellar lineup of A-list celebrities who have graced the iconic sketch comedy show throughout its 50th season. Martin Short, Nate Bargatze, Jean Smart, Ariana Grande, Lady Gaga, Timothée Chalamet, John Mulaney, and many other stars have all made appearances at Studio 8H.
This season’s musical guests have featured talents like Coldplay, Jelly Roll, Billie Eilish, Stevie Nicks, Chappell Roan, and a host of other hit artists.
With that said, let’s take a look at what tonight has in store for the audience.
Is there a new episode of ‘SNL’ tonight?
Yes! “SNL” returns on April 5 with a brand-new live episode airing at 11:30 p.m. ET.
Jack Black will be hosting the show for the fourth time, with Elton John and Brandi Carlile taking the stage as the musical guests for the evening.
This week, cast member Heidi Gardner teamed up with the trio for a series of hilarious promos.
“Wow, it is so crazy to be up here with all you guys. I am very overwhelmed,” Gardner expresses in one clip.
“Just take a deep breath, Heidi. We’re just like everyone else,” Black reassures her.
“Except for our fame and fortune,” Carlile adds.
“And our immense musical skills,” Black continues, as John interjects, “I’m also a knight.”
Feeling a bit shy, Gardner responds, “Thanks. That makes me feel a lot better.”

In another promo, a lighthearted rivalry between Black and John is revealed. After Black mentions John’s name with a hint of disapproval, John responds, “Hi, Black.”
The “Minecraft Movie” star reacts dramatically, shouting, “Elton, what did I say?”
As Black attempts to narrate the promo once more, John amusingly interrupts him.
“Okay, that’s enough. Hold me back,” Black declares, while Gardner playfully holds him to prevent an outburst.
“I’m ready to go ‘Nacho Libre’ on him,” quips Black, referencing his 2006 comedy film.
Who else is hosting ‘SNL’ this season?
Following Jack Black’s episode, “SNL” Season 50 will continue on April 12 with Jon Hamm as the host and Lizzo performing as the musical guest.
