What is the story behind tonight’s ‘Dateline’?
The upcoming episode of “Dateline” focuses on Anita Knutson, an 18-year-old college student who maintained a close relationship with her family while living in an off-campus apartment in Minot, North Dakota.
“For some reason, it always seemed like no matter who she spoke to, she made them feel like the most significant person in the world at that moment,” said Anna Knutson during an interview with Dateline.
On June 4, 2007, Anita’s father went to check on her, only to find her body with multiple stab wounds. A bloody knife was later found in the sink of the apartment as the murder weapon.
On March 26, 2025, Jurors delivered a not guilty verdict for Nichole Rice, Anita’s college roommate.
