Jamie Foxx’s Daughter Ensured His Safety Before Special Event

Jamie Foxx’s daughters, Corinne and Anelise Foxx, were a tremendous support during his Netflix special.

“A big shout-out to my daughter Corinne Marie Foxx, who looked after me and ensured my safety,” Jamie, 57, shared exclusively with Us Weekly on Wednesday, March 12, at the premiere of Apple TV+’s Number One on the Call Sheet. “She made sure nobody could see me, and let’s not forget my youngest daughter, who showed great bravery in front of that audience.”

Jamie’s Netflix special, Jamie Foxx: What Had Happened Was, premiered in December 2024 and provided insight into his health scare from the previous year. During the show, Jamie invited Anelise onto the stage for a performance. (Jamie shares Corinne, 31, with ex Connie Kline and Anelise, 16, with ex Kristin Grannis.)

“You have to understand, we didn’t have rehearsal for that show. We just went on stage. It was the audience’s first time, and my first time saying anything to them,” he explained to Us at TCL Chinese Theatre. “For my daughter to walk out and play that guitar the way she did was simply incredible.”

Jamie noted that Anelise had requested an Instagram account to promote her music, but he decided they should “see what happens” after the special was out — and she received accolades for her performance.

“I might not be the most popular dad for saying no to Instagram, [but] a woman approached her with tears in her eyes, saying, ‘What you did was amazing!’ I told her, ‘Your art will be your social media,’” he reminisced. “She did an outstanding job. To everyone who prayed and ensured I was here, thank you.”

Jamie revealed he plans to record another special in July at Kings Theatre in Brooklyn, stating, “We’re going to have a great time.”

“I just want to avoid getting canceled. I have some jokes that I intentionally held back because I didn’t want to stray from the narrative,” he added. “But yes, this summer, we’re going to bring the fun. So make sure to check it out, back on my funny side, and come see me live.”

Months before launching the special, Jamie celebrated Corinne’s wedding to her husband Joe Hooten. (Corinne announced her engagement in December 2023.)
