Jason Kelce Shares He’s Fasting Ahead of Family Thanksgiving Dinner

Jason Kelce has initiated a pre-Thanksgiving fast to truly enjoy his holiday feast.

“I’m planning to feast extensively on Thanksgiving,” Jason, 37, shared with his brother Travis Kelce during the November 26 episode of their “New Heights” podcast. “I just feel guilty because I spent some time at Disney World indulging in a lot of egg rolls and other not-so-great food. Then, I was in Wisconsin and devoured a prime rib and an ice cream drink.”

Noticing some weight gain due to his recent eating habits, Jason expressed concern for his health.

“So, we’re going on a fast. I’m about 36 hours in,” the retired NFL center explained, mentioning that he and friend Marcus Spears decided to fast together. “Apparently, not eating for too long can be unhealthy. If done correctly, fasting can be healthy, but I’m still figuring it out.”

Jason Kelce continues to shed pounds in his post-football life but admits he isn’t quite back in NFL shape regarding all aspects of his routine. A noticeably slimmer Kelce, 37, attempted to recapture his football glory in a video shared by his former team, the Philadelphia Eagles, on October 15. […]

Jason intends to fast for just 48 hours leading up to the Thursday, November 27, holiday.

“I’m trying my best, but I’ve been consuming a lot of caffeine and other things to keep me distracted,” he joked. “I might end up eating an entire turkey by myself.”

Travis, 36, chimed in humorously, saying his brother is the only one who eats the turkey anyway.

“When you fry it, everyone digs in,” Jason responded. “Kylie [Kelce] puts on the cranberry sauce. Her mom and she also prepare a turkey. I end up being a huge hassle on Thanksgiving since Kylie and her mom take care of everything. Instead of keeping an eye on the kids, I head next door to fry a turkey with [dad] Ed [Kelce]. For part of the day, I feel completely useless, frying an extra turkey we don’t really need.”

Jason and Kylie, 33, are hosting Thanksgiving dinner at their home in Pennsylvania. The couple, married since 2018, share four daughters: Wyatt, 5, Ellie, 4, Bennett, 2, and Finn, who was born in March.

Kylie Kelce prefers that Jason Kelce only prepare meals for her and their kids if it’s a PB&J. “[Kylie mentioned] after the shoot that she was going home to make peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for her kids,” Good Morning America’s Lori Bergamotto stated following her segment with Kylie, 31. “We have Kylie’s family coming over, plus four kids,” Jason said regarding his plans. “I’ll need to be wrangling these kids. It’s going to be an exhausting day.”

Kylie has also shared insights into their meal preparations on the November 25 episode of her “Not Gonna Lie” podcast.

“Generally, my mom and I handle the turkey, and honestly, I feel like my mom is the one who carves it,” Kylie revealed on her podcast. “Jason has taken charge of frying the turkey over the last two years. He gives it his all, but if you ask him whether the turkey is safe to eat, the answer might be questionable. He does look adorable while doing it, though.”

Meanwhile, Travis will miss his family’s celebrations as the Kansas City Chiefs have a game on Thursday.

“I’ll be playing football and then flying back to Kansas City,” Travis shared on Wednesday, referring to the Chiefs’ away game against the Dallas Cowboys. “I might skip Thanksgiving dinner unless we win and I get to have some turkey on the field.”
