Jason Oppenheim Confirms Breakup with Jessica Vargas from Selling Sunset

Selling Sunset star Jason Oppenheim and Jessica Vargas have ended their romantic relationship.

“We aren’t boyfriend and girlfriend anymore… but we still love each other and remain best friends,” Oppenheim, 48, shared over a black-and-white Instagram Story featuring the former couple on Sunday, February 15.

Vargas also shared the image, adding, “Love you J & may this kind of friendship find us all.”

Both Oppenheim and Vargas, who is a realtor associate at Jason’s Oppenheim Group brokerage, sent a joint statement to People on Sunday, February 15, while they were at a wedding together in Hawaii.

“Jessica is the most beautiful woman I’ve ever met, inside and out, and while we may not be husband and wife, we will remain best friends,” Oppenheim expressed. “Having her in my life is what matters most.”

Vargas remarked, “Jason and I have a lot of love for one another, and that’s not going anywhere. The best outcome for us is to stay close and keep each other in our lives as best friends. He’s genuinely a gem of a human with the biggest heart, and I’m thankful for him.”

Oppenheim and Vargas made their relationship public at a red carpet event in April 2025. Shortly thereafter, Oppenheim’s ex-girlfriend Chrishell Stause commented on his new relationship. (Oppenheim and Stause, now 44, went public in 2021 but ended their relationship later that year. She has since married Australian artist G Flip in 2023.)

“Oh, I’ve met her,” Stause told Us Weekly about Vargas. “She’s really sweet. She’s lovely.”

When asked how she felt about her ex dating another real estate agent, Stause joked, “Oh, they’re not going to want me to answer all these.”

A few months later, Oppenheim appeared on Selling the OC star Alex Hall‘s podcast “Pretty Dirty” and shared that their bond began as a friendship.

“We were best friends first, and I think because I was in a previous relationship, we were just able to get to know each other genuinely,” Vargas explained, while Oppenheim added, “We really clicked and enjoyed each other’s company.”

Oppenheim went on to express that marrying Vargas was still in his plans, despite previously stating he didn’t want to get married in the future.

“That’s true,” he acknowledged when Hall highlighted his change of perspective in a December 2025 episode. “I even told her back when we were friends, ‘No, I’m not getting married.’ I didn’t see it happening.”

While Oppenheim may have reconsidered marriage, he reiterated his stance on not wanting to become a father, a sentiment Vargas also shares.

“That’s another reason we connected so well,” Vargas mentioned during the podcast. “We have the same views. ‘I don’t want kids. I want to do what I want.’ We were totally in sync.”
