Jason Tartick Welcomes New Dog Following Pet Custody Dispute with Kaitlyn Bristowe
Jason Tartick has welcomed a forever companion in his new dog.
“I’m not sure who rescued whom, but we definitely found each other,” Tartick, 36, shared through social media on Wednesday, March 5. “Thanks to @wagsandwalksnashville for making this happen!”
In his post, Tartick embraced a golden retriever mix with a big hug after finalizing the adoption paperwork.
While the Bachelor Nation star is obviously smitten with his new furry friend, he is still contemplating the ideal name.
“My new best buddy is in need of a name! I have a few favorites in mind, but I’d love to get your suggestions before making a decision,” Tartick wrote later on Wednesday via Instagram. “Interestingly, the day I chose to volunteer at the rescue was also the day they brought him in from a local shelter. It was an instant connection.”
He continued, “The rescue had named him ‘Rango,’ which I think is nice, but I’m open to something different. What names do you think would suit him?”
In the comments section on Instagram, various fellow Bachelor Nation members suggested names like Waffles, Maverick, Bear, Nash, Chance, and Cash, among others.
Previously, Tartick co-owned two golden retrievers, Ramen and Pinot, with his ex-fiancée, Kaitlyn Bristowe. After their split in 2023, they intended to share custody of the dogs, but that agreement came to an end in September 2024.
“If you’re a listener of this podcast or follow me at all, you know how vital Ramen and Pinot are to me. They truly are the joys of my life,” Bristowe, 39, said on her “Off the Vine” podcast during that time. “It breaks my heart each time I have to leave them [when I travel]. Luckily, they have a wonderful dog sitter who comes to ensure they stay at home.”
She added, “What I’ve realized in sharing custody is that they become very scared and anxious not knowing where they’ll go next or when they’ll return. It’s not personal to anyone; this anxiety happens moving between both homes.”
Bristowe noted that the dogs would feel “frightened to leave” one house for the other.
“It was breaking my heart, and when I spoke to Bunny’s Buddies, from whom I rescued them, they said, ‘This isn’t right,’” she added. “[They advised], ‘We wouldn’t allow someone to adopt these two precious dogs who need stability to be shuffled around in joint custody. We would have never let you adopt them if we had known.’”
Bristowe further emphasized that she was “no longer willing to co-parent” the dogs with Tartick but still wanted to ensure he could visit them.
“I’m prioritizing what’s best for the dogs,” Bristowe explained. “[Jason] is welcome to visit them when he’s in town for the weekend or if he wants to take them for a walk. I would never keep them away from anyone.”
