Jax Taylor Addresses Whether His Nose Surgeries Were Due to Cocaine Use
Jax Taylor responded to fan speculation regarding his multiple nose surgeries, clarifying that they were not due to his cocaine use.
In the episode of his “In the Mind of a Man” podcast aired on Thursday, March 27, Taylor, 45, addressed a listener’s question: “Did you have to get all those nose jobs because of your cocaine use?”
Taylor chuckled before providing clarity. “No. I didn’t like how my nose [looked] — I truly didn’t,” he confessed. “I had wanted a nose job for years but couldn’t afford it. My whole family shares the same nose, we all do. When I finally had the chance, I took it.”
The Valley star went on to explain that while his first nose job was purely cosmetic, the second was necessary due to a significant injury. Bravo fans may recall that Taylor was open about walking “face first” into a glass door during the earlier seasons of Vanderpump Rules. He noted that he made several visits to his plastic surgeon for maintenance, leading to humorous comments about his various procedures.
The listener question follows Taylor’s recent openness about his addiction.
“I have substance issues — primarily involving cocaine. Saying it out loud is difficult,” he disclosed during his March appearance on Bravo’s “Hot Mic” podcast. “I’ve been grappling with this on and off since I was 23 and now I’m 45. There were times I’d abstain, but then there were times I’d indulge heavily.”
Taylor also talked about eliminating alcohol from his life. “People often ask if I have a problem with alcohol too. I don’t necessarily believe I have an alcohol issue, but the two often go together,” he noted. “I can’t do cocaine without drinking. So, I decided to quit both. I’m happy to say I’m currently 83 days sober, which is the longest I’ve ever been without either.”
Reflecting on his journey to sobriety, Taylor acknowledged that there were “some signs” that Bravo fans had picked up on.
“And [producers] did pull me aside a couple of times and say, ‘Listen, calm down now.’ They were unaware of my situation but suspected I was drinking too much,” he explained, clarifying that production wasn’t “providing” the cast with alcohol or other substances. “I would go off on my own. When we filmed a scene, there’d be 30 minutes of downtime, and while most would rest, I’d head to a bar, get drunk, or go to the place next door from SUR since we weren’t allowed to drink during scenes.”
He continued, “At certain events, we would attend parties. But during crucial scenes, it was advised to ‘stay away from that.’ However, we would sneak around the back or get inebriated before filming a scene.”
In Us Weekly‘s cover story, Taylor spoke about reaching over 100 days of sobriety.
“I had various issues because I was masking loneliness,” he revealed. “I was hiding my texting interactions with women through drugs and alcohol. There are numerous underlying issues. So this is a gradual process, which is challenging for me as I typically seek quick solutions. However, this is one of those situations in life that requires effort over time. I’m not accustomed to that.”
Taylor is committed to the journey, concluding, “This isn’t going to work any other way. That’s not how addiction or mental health operate. People say, ‘Jax, you’ve caused considerable damage. A lot. And it’s not going to just disappear. People are exhausted.”
