Jenelle Evans’ 16-Year-Old Son Jace Decides to Move Out Amid Family Strain
Jace, the eldest son of Jenelle Evans, has reportedly left their Las Vegas home after an argument.
The 16-year-old is allegedly now residing in North Carolina with a relative, following Evans, 33, grounding him due to his recent behavior concerning CPS, as reported by TMZ. A source has verified to Us Weekly that TMZ’s report is accurate.
On Thursday, August 21, the outlet stated that the move was prompted by Jace’s threat to contact Child Protective Services (CPS) when Evans allegedly left him in charge of her two other children while she went out.
However, the insider told Us that CPS did not visit their home and that Jace wasn’t babysitting at the time; Evans had hired a babysitter from care.com, whom the kids are fond of, according to the source.
Evans shares Jace with ex Andrew Lewis, son Kaiser, 11, with ex Nathan Griffith, and daughter Ensley, 8, with ex-husband David Eason.
Though Jace did not act on his threats or file a complaint against the Teen Mom 2 star, TMZ reports that he was grounded by Evans after the incident, exacerbating existing tensions between them.
Reportedly, Jace’s ongoing issues with his mother may be related to his probation for an undisclosed crime, as his case is sealed due to his minor status.
Despite the recent conflicts, the reality star “allowed” her son to move to North Carolina, believing it’s what’s “best” for him, according to TMZ.
Us Weekly has reached out to Evans’ representative for comment.
This reported relocation follows Evans confirming to Us in June that Jace was “back at home with me” in Las Vegas after a period living with his biological father in Florida.
While they shared a home together this summer, Jace stirred concern on social media earlier this month by revealing private text conversations with his mother.
The texts shared via three Instagram posts detailed a reported altercation between Jace and his former stepfather Eason, 37, regarding custody issues. (In September 2023, Jace accused Eason of assaulting him, leading to Eason receiving a misdemeanor charge of child abuse, according to TMZ.)
In his first post in August, Jace wrote, “I am finally putting out how much mother really is,” leaving the second post blank. The third post stated, “I need to go back to NC she is just rlly [sic] unstable.”
In response to his leaked texts, Evans told her followers on Wednesday, August 20, that she had “disciplined” Jace for the incident.
“Although it’s painful to see these moments shared publicly, I understand it comes from a place of struggle,” she shared via her Instagram Story. “Managing Jace’s various medical conditions has been challenging, but I’ll never stop fighting for him to have the resources, love, and support he requires.”
Evans added that Jace recently faced a run-in with the law, complicating their home life further.
“He has also encountered legal issues in the past few months and is struggling to adjust to the set rules,” she mentioned. “I’m doing my best to support him, but we’re facing challenges in the process. I ask for your understanding during this tough time for us.”
