Jenna Bush Hager Responds to Amy Poehler’s SNL Impression of Her

In 2005, Amy Poehler performed a humorous impersonation of a young Jenna Bush Hager on “Saturday Night Live.” Now, two decades later, Jenna is reflecting on that iconic skit with Poehler present.

During her guest co-hosting stint on TODAY with Jenna & Friends on February 10, Poehler discussed the forthcoming “SNL” 50th anniversary special. It was then that Jenna brought up this unforgettable highlight from Poehler’s comedic journey on the show.

“One memorable moment in your illustrious career is when you actually played me once,” Jenna remarked to Poehler.

When Poehler sought Jenna’s approval on the impersonation, Jenna responded that she found it to be “excellent.”

In the “SNL” sketch from Season 30, Poehler portrayed Jenna while Tina Fey took on the role of Jenna’s sister, Barbara Bush, depicting a scene following former President George W. Bush’s inaugural ball.

Jenna laughed heartily as she watched a nostalgic clip of Poehler’s performance, while Poehler commented, “I’m sweating, I’m sweating.”

Jenna pointed out that at that time in her life, she had already begun her career as a teacher.

“You might be thinking, ‘Oh, she’s poking fun at college Jenna.’ By then, I had actually graduated. I walked across the stage. And I was teaching third graders in Washington, D.C. But you did get a lot right,” Jenna explained, causing Poehler to burst into laughter.

Poehler added that Fey crafted the sketch with the intention of portraying them as having a “twin language.”
