Fans of Today and the Hallmark Channel may be surprised by Jenna Bush Hager’s choice for the Super Bowl LIX winner.
“I’m cheering for the [Philadelphia] Eagles this year,” Bush Hager, 43, announced during the Friday, February 7, episode of Today With Jenna & Friends. “Last year, I supported the [Kansas City] Chiefs, and I believe in switching things up.”
She echoed her guest co-host Ego Nwodim’s sentiment that she wants “everyone to win,” but clarified her feelings about the Chiefs’ biggest fan. “I’m not against Taylor Swift,” she said, referencing the pop singer’s relationship with Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce. “Just wanted to put that out there.”
Nwodim, 36, supported Bush Hager by adding, “Swifties, we mean no harm.”
Before supporting the Eagles, Bush Hager made her acting debut in the Hallmark Channel’s Chiefs-themed Christmas movie, Holiday Touchdown: A Chiefs Love Story. The film tells the story of a superfan named Alana (Hunter King) who develops feelings for the Chiefs’ Director of Fan Engagement (Tyler Hynes) while competing in the family’s “Fan of the Year” contest.
Bush Hager was announced as part of the film’s cast live on Today in July 2024. “Initially, I thought it was about Taylor and Travis, so I assumed I’d play Taylor’s role, but I didn’t. What a surprise,” she joked at the time, highlighting that she couldn’t divulge details about her character.

As the film’s November 2024 premiere approaches, Bush Hager provided fans with a behind-the-scenes glimpse of her day on set, where she filmed her role as the Chiefs’ “emcee” and spent time with Travis’ mother, Donna Kelce. Mama Kelce, 72, also made a cameo as a Kansas City restaurant manager named Donna.
“You should write a note for me to place in Travis’ locker,” Donna suggested to Bush Hager in the behind-the-scenes clip that aired on a November 2024 episode of Today. In her letter, Bush Hager expressed gratitude to Travis, 35, for instilling a love of football in her daughters, Mila, 11, and Poppy, 9, and invited him to join her and Hoda Kotb on Today. Bush Hager shares her daughters and son, Hal, 5, with her husband, Henry Hager. (Kotb, 60, left NBC’s morning show after nearly 30 years with the network last month.)
After filming her scenes over the summer, Bush Hager exclusively told Us Weekly in August 2024 that she hadn’t heard back from Travis regarding her letter. “But I’ll write to Mama Kelce right away,” she laughed.
While being part of the movie was “an absolute blast” for the TV star, she cautioned that shooting a holiday film in the high summer was “not for the faint-hearted.” She recalled, “It felt like 115 degrees in the stadium. There was a heat dome, and I was in a cashmere wool coat. I turned to the lovely actress, Hunter King, and asked, ‘Is it always this hot? How do you even remember your lines?’ because you’re absolutely roasting.”
Bush Hager shared further insights about her Super Bowl LIX plans on Friday’s Jenna & Friends. “I have a famous queso recipe that you must try. … It’s on the back of the Velveeta box, but I add my own twist, like ground beef, taco meat, and a can of beans,” she revealed to Nwodim. “Topped with chopped avocado and a sprinkle of cilantro, it’s perfect. So, I’ll be preparing that along with some nachos.”
