Jennifer Garner Joins the ‘Felt Pretty’ Movement with Candid Photos
Jennifer Garner has officially joined the group chat of internet relatability — without the glam squad.
The 53-year-old actress embraced the viral “felt pretty” social media trend, opting for genuine moments over highlight reel perfection.
“Felt pretty but then I opened my friend’s camera roll,” she wrote in the caption of her post on Sunday, December 28. Garner started her Instagram video with a clip of herself looking glamorous in voluminous curls, luminous makeup, and a striking velvet black dress.
The mom of three then shifted to a casual snapshot, where she sported a cozy gray sweatshirt and damp, unstyled hair, topped with a slightly crooked party hat, as if she had just emerged from a birthday or school function. (Garner shares children Violet, 20, Seraphina, 16, and Samuel, 13, with ex-husband Ben Affleck).
She continued her video with a sweaty snapshot from a workout class and included a separate image of herself napping, one foot resting on the couch and the other on a nearby chair.
Garner further kept it real by showcasing a clip of herself munching on food, accompanied by another clip featuring a quirky, styled-up hairdo.
“Oh, well. 🤷🏻♀️ (two peas in a pod, @clarissanya ♥️),” the star added in her caption.
Many fans expressed their appreciation in the comments, celebrating her honesty. “Real person! We need this in social media,” one commented.
“Authenticity is probably the most beautiful thing out there. It’s extremely rare among celebrities to share such moments, which is why people find you so lovable. It’s your brand. ❤️,” another user remarked. “Beautiful human being inside and out. We all have camera rolls like those,” added a third.
Stars like Rita Wilson also showed their support. “The best because JOY is all over this!” Wilson, 69, wrote. “You are perfection,” chimed in Selma Blair.
Garner’s recent post followed her mastering a Nutcracker-inspired hairstyle taught by a professional ballerina. She learned from none other than Tiler Peck, who performed as the Sugar Plum Fairy in New York City.
“Now that I can do my hair, I feel like I should probably be in the New York City Ballet,” Garner joked during their collaboration. “Fouettés are a big part of my life,” she added.
Peck agreed, enthusiastically stating, “You’ll be doing 32 fouettés in no time.”
As anticipated, Garner has been getting into the holiday spirit lately, decorating gingerbread houses and dressing up as a candy cane alongside Ed Helms while promoting her 2023 film Family Switch.
Additionally, she has been cherishing quality time with her family, months after expressing her admiration for her children and the joys of parenthood.
“I’m just watching them as they enter this new phase in life, discovering who they want to be and what they plan to study,” she told People in March 2024. “I’m so intrigued by them. I constantly want to know everything about them.”
