Jessica Simpson Celebrates Thanksgiving with Ex-Husband Eric Johnson
Jessica Simpson and her ex-husband Eric Johnson are maintaining a friendly relationship following their split, spending the Thanksgiving holiday together.
In an interview with TMZ on Friday, November 28, the 45-year-old singer confirmed that Johnson was part of her family’s Thanksgiving festivities. (Simpson and Johnson, 45, share three children: Maxwell, 13, Ace, 12, and Birdie, 6.)
“We were all together yesterday at my mom’s place,” Simpson shared with the outlet.
When asked if Johnson was included, Simpson replied, “Of course. He’s the father of my kids.”
She mentioned that “all their grandparents” were present at the Thanksgiving gathering, stating, “Family comes first.”
The “Breadcrumbs” artist also discussed her approach to co-parenting after their breakup, highlighting the importance of mutual respect.
“Regardless of the situation, your child is half of the other parent, and [you should] always speak with respect around them so they can maintain a positive outlook,” she elaborated, adding, “Unconditional love is vital.”
Simpson and Johnson announced their separation in January after a decade of marriage.
“Eric and I have been living separately while navigating a difficult time in our marriage,” Simpson stated to Us Weekly at that time. “Our children are our priority, and we are focusing on what’s best for them. We are thankful for all the love and support we have received and ask for privacy as we work through this as a family.”
Despite the split, the couple seems to be moving forward amicably. In August, they were spotted boarding a Southwest Airlines flight from Burbank to Las Vegas.
During the flight, Simpson and Johnson were photographed sitting in the same row with an empty middle seat between them. While their children weren’t on the trip, it was still a family-related outing as they headed to see Simpson’s sister Ashlee perform in Vegas.
In February 2025, Simpson confirmed to People that she and Johnson remained on good terms despite their breakup.
“I’m not sure why my heart feels so tumultuous, but I consider myself one of the lucky ones,” she shared. “I have my children, and I still have Eric. He is still a significant part of my life and always will be.”
Simpson and Johnson met in May 2010, and the former NFL player proposed just six months later. They tied the knot in July 2014 surrounded by family and friends in Montecito, California.
Following their separation, Simpson revealed that she’s been interested in younger men while dating.
“I think I’m into younger men right now,” she told Extra in October. “When you’re recently separated … I think younger guys appreciate the confidence of an older woman, which I’m learning.”
The “Blame Me” singer added, “I am enjoying myself!”
Simpson has also revived her music career after the split, releasing new music for the first time in September after a 15-year hiatus.
